Because he learns from his mistake or because he's not even on someones roster after this season?

He's a TE. One of his main job duties is to be good at catching the damn ball. Uncontested, he let a ball bonk him in the forehead, hardly even getting a hand on the ball in the process. That's not so much a mistake as it is incompetence.

For the purpose of playing devil's advocate...this is a perfect damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Say he would have went for the block and Seattle got the ball anyway, we'd all be bitching and moaning about why he didn't catch a ball kicked right at him. I don't blame him for his decision, I blame him for not catching the damn ball.

Exactly. I just say some tweets about his comments, didn't see his interview. No matter what his responsibility was on that play, it's 100% completely irrelevant. The goal of an onside kick is for someone, ANYONE, to catch the f'n ball. He is a professional paid to catch balls. When in a position to catch a ball, he did not catch the damn ball. That's not Slocum, McCarthy, or anyone else.

Fact is, all those players were TERRIFIED, because they all knew what was happening.

They all knew that the team was self destructing, and they all had a sense of what was going to happen.

And the more terrified they got, the more likely it was to happen.

They came in scared and they shit themselves with fear, so bad that they pissed away an entire season. The SB was there for the taking.
