A thread recognizing moments (seemingly rare) athletes just simply get it... or at least speak as if they get it.

Prime example..

"The oranges are dry; the apples are mealy; and the papayas... I don't know what's going on with the papayas!"

Although HHCD made too many "business decisions" on the field, I get that he got it:

Great idea for a thread, 93.

I'm not a Feijenoord fan, but I love this moment. I know he's aware that there's a camera there and he won't mind the PR-points he scored here, but he did give all those kids a moment they'll carry with them for the rest of their lifes.

Puck hit a kid, Elliott went over to him and chatted with him, took a selfie too. Probably made that kids day.

It's the little things that make such a big difference. Yes the big name athletes can start foundations that raise millions of dollars. That's wonderful. But it's the time they spend saying hello to a kid of giving the child the hockey stick or jersey or whatever that has a more profound and lasting impression. A few years ago I came to the realization that a lot of these professionals are parents themselves and would like it if someone took the time to help their child (or younger sibling) so they too pay it forward with a little bit of their time.

This one million dollars wasn't just $1,000,000. It started something that grew and spawned many others to donate too.

How damn cool is this?

Jon Stewart isn't an athlete, but I love it when people know they have the camera and try to use it for good.

I don't know that Jon Stewart had any doings behind the bill, but I'm glad it was passed.

Albert Pujols gets it.

Quote:

Heart-warming moment Angel slugger Albert Pujols takes his own sweater and draws it for an overjoyed young fan with Down syndrome
Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols delights a young Down syndrome fan after a recent competition by giving the boy his own shirt from his back
After Thursday's victory over Blue Jays in Toronto, Pujols walked on to the first baseline where nine-year-old Nico was waiting
The designated candidate player of 6 foot-3, 240 pounds did not hesitate to remove his jersey, take a pen from Nico & # 39; s outstretched hand and sign his name on the back
After this, Nico turned and let Pujols draw the back of his shirt
Nico & # 39; s father, Joe Squarini, posted the video on Twitter and wrote: & # 39; Thank you @ PujolsFive! You made our night. Nico will never forget your @pujolsfound & # 39;
The Albert Pujols Foundation was established to promote & # 39; raise awareness, provide hope and meet tangible needs for children and families living with Down syndrome & # 39;
Pujols & stepdaughter Isabella was born with Down syndrome on January 1, 2000

Zero2Cool (5h) : “I sure as hell hope so,” LaFleur said when asked if he thought Rodgers would be back in green and gold in 2021. “The guy’s the MVP of this league. He is the heart and soul of our football team, so he
Zero2Cool (5h) : NFL MVP won't be winning Super Bowl, again. Annoying.
Mucky Tundra (7h) : and I dont think Josh Allen is gonna get it done against Brady
Mucky Tundra (7h) : I'm rooting for KC cuz I can't stomach Tampa Bay after that game
Cheesey (7h) : So many chances, so many screw ups. KING
Cheesey (7h) : Now I don’t care who wins the SB.
Mucky Tundra (7h) : whatever problems KC had midseason seem to be gone now
Mucky Tundra (8h) : oh man TJ Lang from the top rope on Bostick
Mucky Tundra (8h) : @TJLang70 Nah I think they all actually tried to do their job.
Mucky Tundra (8h) : @Bostick11 They Still Gonna Blame Me...
Mucky Tundra (10h) : i just want to sit here for the rest of the day and not do anything but that's counterproductive
Zero2Cool (12h) : 😥😥😥
Zero2Cool (12h) : @RobDemovsky This is the 2011 playoffs all over again. JPP causing havoc. Hail Mary to end the half.
Zero2Cool (13h) : Let's fucking go!!!
Tezzy (13h) : Go Pack Go!
Mucky Tundra (13h) : i guess they had the tarp down or the photos were old ones because I'm not seeing any snow on the field now
Cheesey (14h) : I’m a nervous wreck right now.
Mucky Tundra (14h) : Just looked at the Packers facebook page; a nice little layer of snow on the ground
nerdmann (14h) : They released Dexter Williams from the PS this week.
Zero2Cool (15h) : Kevin King is active. Tramon Williams is active. Inactive: Kingsley Keke, Jordan Love, Jonathan Garvin, Jace Sternberger, Josh Jackson, Vernon Scott, Ka’dar Hollman
Zero2Cool (15h) : As eagle-eyed @mattschneidman noticed, Kevin King is going through a warm-up on the field. There's no trainer by him, for what it's worth - only Jaire Alexander, with King working on press coverage
nerdmann (15h) : Run it up the gut. See what Vea's got.
Zero2Cool (15h) : amesPalmerTV confirmed Arians plan for Vita Vea today is 20 to 25 snaps...

yooperfan (19h) : Game day! The Green Bay Packers flag is up and flying high over Ishpeming Michigan. GO PACK GO!!!
Zero2Cool (21h) : Folks saying teams wasting talent, ya all must live NBA where players form stud teams.
Cheesey (24-Jan) : That’s him! Thanks Mucky! I couldn’t remember his name.
Mucky Tundra (24-Jan) : Calvin Johnson aka MEGATRON!!!!
Cheesey (24-Jan) : And that WR, his name escapes me now. Great talent on lousy teams.
Cheesey (24-Jan) : The Lions are pros at wasting talent. Just think, BARRY SANDERS.
Cheesey (24-Jan) : Well, we don’t know where Stafford will end up. Hope it’s not the Bears.
Mucky Tundra (24-Jan) : Same wpr. Made every game with the Lions a tough one
wpr (24-Jan) : Talk about a QB who's career was wasted. The Lions wasted Stafford's. I'm g;ad he won't be the division anymore.
Zero2Cool (24-Jan) : Stafford is massively under appreciated. He's a great talent.
Cheesey (24-Jan) : Stafford is a decent QB. He probably wants to find out what winning feels like.🤪
Mucky Tundra (23-Jan) : I guess Stafford is not a fan of biting kneecaps
packerfanoutwest (23-Jan) : Stafford has never won a playoff game
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Oh. Yeah. That.
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Breaking: The Lions and Matthew Stafford have mutually agreed to part ways this offseason, per multiple sources
Mucky Tundra (23-Jan) : So, the 4th best QB in the division is either Cousins or Trubs ;)
Mucky Tundra (23-Jan) : @TomPelissero Sources: The #Lions and Matthew Stafford have mutually agreed to part ways this offseason and the team will begin exploring trade options in the coming weeks for their star QB.
Cheesey (23-Jan) : Okay, I will! Loveee!😎
