Discipline required, on and off the field

He also mentioned discussing more flexibility with defensive coordinator Joe Barry to shift out of the defense's usual two-deep safety look to add another defender to the box when an offense is loading up to run the ball, like the Patriots did in sending in an extra offensive lineman regularly.

This talks a little bit about the Packers travel plans, but I think the asking Joe Brady to stack the box more is most interesting...

Including... why in the hell does he have to be told this when going against a 3rd string QB?

I mean, I really love the scheme ... but Barry's willingness to just play conservative is absolutely freaking nuts at times (I mean, I think fans are absolutely nuts when they want to blitz all the time too... and I'm stronger to Barry's side than the fans... but every rule has exceptions... and while it's smart to be conservative majority of the time, it's like Barry doesn't see the exceptions ...)

There's a reason why Barry's defenses (all but one year) never ranked better than 23rd. He may be doing good with our defense, but his schemes and plans suck. If we weren't so talented on D, we would be bottom of the barrel.

Remember what Jim Bates did with our D back in the early 00's? He took a bunch of jags aside from a few and made them a top 10 D after sucking for years on defense. Barry will never do that because he needs talent to thrive and even then, he gets too conservative.

Thing with Barry last year was Matt telling him what to do during games, imo. They held up too.

Not counting turnovers, this D has held all these teams to 20 or under so far. Not to jinx, of course.

They've only held 2 teams under 20. The crappy bears and the injured Bucs. We will see what this D is all about when we face the Bills and Lions

False. Aaron throwing a pick 6 is not something the defense allowed. Against the Vikings they held to a FG after a turnover, instead of allowing a TD. I don't count that against them either.

We didn't get enough pressure on a third string QB. He had much to much time in the pocket.

The standard for a defense isnt 20 points. A 3rd string rookie couldnt be shut down. What do u think a QB lile Allen will do? Again, our real test will be vs the Bills.

In theory the scheme is to limited the passing game, so they might actually do better against teams that can't run it....

But my original point was that Barry failed to adjust to other teams weakness and just kept playing his scheme...

And Patriots said, okay, we'll put 6 OL on the field and run it, and still almost no adjustments...

He has adjusted a bit in the blitzing more... but he always seems games late with his adjustments...

I doubt the Packers make a move, but I would ask them to extremely serious take a look at FA coach Vic Fangio... he's the one whom designed this season and he defensive coordinator for

49ers (2011–2014)
Bears (2015–2018)

Yes the Packers owned the Bears, but they defenses were tough as hell...

Took Collin Kapernick lead 49ers to the NFC Conference Championship game 3 years in a row... and late in the regular season, I said the 2018 Bears would make it to the Super Bowl if they could just avoid the Eagles tough linemen, and their luck it was their first playoff game and the defense held to them to 16 points but Eagles still one off the double doink FG

Also, if he doesn't get the head coaching job, Wisconsin's Jim Leonhard might be looking for another job.

Any team we face will be a test the way we have been playing.
The only team we beat up was the Bears.
2 squeaker wins against beat up Tampa, and a overtime against a third string rookie QB.
Our offense has been a shell of what it was. Losing Adams and MVS has really hurt. Having rookies that don't really know what they are doing doesn't help.
Hopefully they can put it together and start playing like we know they can.

All I know is Matt does not come off happy about going to London for a football game. Each interview I've listened to, he's crabby as crap, lol. It's funny. You can tell he knows he's crabby and tries to come off different and then it just comes back one sentence later.

U know as fans, we sit from the comfort of our homes judging these players and coaches week in and out. What we dont realize is they travel every week to different parts of the country. That can get tiring and frustrating. Some people may not like flying but do it anyways for their job. So to come off crabby because the greedy NFL wants world domination by flying teams to London is underatandable. I for one couldnt do it

I think Rodgers explained it well, everyone knows players are creates of routine in preparations, well... coaches are a lot more so... and this London trip throws the routines out the window.

Also CB Douglas says the London games suck... because it's like a normal game, except an 8 hour plane ride (which LaFleur has said he's going to try to keep players awake on)... and your bodies normal routine is totally screwed up with the time differences.

I was hoping we'd hear more from TE Lewis about it ... as the Jaguars went A LOT to London, and I believe Lewis had a 3 TD game as the Jaguars shocked the Ravens one year (Ravens kept treating him as a blocker (and he is) but then they skip him out late and no one picked Lewis up... touchdown!

On the positive, the new rookie WRs are progressing a heck of alot faster than either Adams or Jordy did.

Rodgers also compared rookie Watson to rookie Adams in terms of he's not looking at them enough ... and when when it first looks bad, they later win the rep and he needs to look their way later.... though said Adams was the much better route runner.

But dead serious here... their have been times when they doubled Watson as the deep route guy, and he's burned both of them... a well placed deep ball and catch could be a touch down.... now... Rodgers hasn't hit the super speedsters in stride (never learning to hit MVS in stride) and whom knows if Watson will catch it if he does... but they possible need to test it every so often and make sure both are practicing it during the week.

Also Doubs, IMO, actually looks like the next Adams.... well maybe not as much shake at the line, but once you get Doubs moving his route running and body control are darn good. Maybe I should say Nelson instead of Adams 🤔

Doubs reminds me more of Jennings. The YAC is there as well.

Watson reminds me of a faster Adams.

Zero2Cool (3h) : Jerry Jones said Mike McCarthy will call the plays and a version of the offenses he ran in Green Bay will be coming to Dallas.
Zero2Cool (4h) : We agree. 😁
Zero2Cool (4h) : lol me too man, I said it last year as well. YOU SEARCH IT BRUH!!!
dhazer (4h) : But Kevin you search back and you will see I was even saying this last year and most of this year lol
Zero2Cool (6h) : dhazer, thanks for reading my comments, appreciate it. care to repeat anything else I said? MR ECHO!!!!! (only teasing, work is slow, leave me alone)
dhazer (6h) : Well Rodgers wont retire now as Brady just announced his retirement. As i stated Rodgers ego wont allow him to be an opening act at the HOF ceremony
Zero2Cool (6h) : But yes, the location is likely because he has numerous friends in the area for Suspended Sunrise Recordings.
Zero2Cool (6h) : Rodgers does not have a house in/around Nashville. He allegedly bought land.
beast (7h) : Also, Rodgers already has a house around Nashville (I believe for his Music Record Business)
beast (7h) : With AFC Contender will offer the most for Rodgers? Jets is the logical answer, BUT Dolphins seem to be going all in, and Titans have been interested in Rodgers and really.use an upgrade
Zero2Cool (8h) : Tom Brady retires. Rodgers playing in2023. prediction
go.pack.go. (8h) : Well Leonhard was offered the DC job before Barry was hired. So it’s not unrealistic
buckeyepackfan (8h) : Brady officially retires "FOR GOOD"! Aaron will definately play 1 more year. But where?
beast (19h) : He's only coached one place... you usually don't go straight to a coordinator job unless an owner loves you (Jeff Saturday to head coach style)
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Saints get a 2023 1st rounder and a 2024 2nd rounder and give up Payton and a 2024 3rd rounder
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Looks like Sean Payton is going to Denver
Zero2Cool (21h) : You ask me a question and shows you didn't read fully what I said. Not nice!
Martha Careful (22h) : He would be a pro DC candidate
beast (23h) : DC job in college... but probably not in the pros.
go.pack.go. (31-Jan) : Why would Leonhard want to come be a secondary coach when he could probably get a DC job somewhere else?
Zero2Cool (31-Jan) : If Jerry Gray leaves, fill the void with Jim Leonhard. Then if Joe Barry flounders, you got your replacement. Win-Win
Zero2Cool (31-Jan) : Packers’ Elgton Jenkins named to 2023 Pro Bowl in place of Eagles’ Landon Dickerson
Zero2Cool (30-Jan) : $17 million OVER the set Salary Cap for 2023. Sweet.
RickLM (30-Jan) : I'll give you the Chiefs and the Bengals, but despite the Niners kicking our ass - we've achieved what they have in the last few years
nerdmann (30-Jan) : With these young receivers, I'm not sure the Packers dropped off, maybe dipped a little until Dec.
nerdmann (30-Jan) : Cap will be $224.8 this year.
Zero2Cool (30-Jan) : Did they surpass the Packers, or have the Packers fallen off? It's not like Packers got 13 wins and those teams got 14 a piece.
packerfanwayoutwest (30-Jan) : you forgot the Lions
bboystyle (30-Jan) : Team like the Niners, Chiefs, and now Bengals have surpass the Packers. Its frustratng to see
Zero2Cool (30-Jan) : I KEED, I KEED!!! ... or ... am I?
Zero2Cool (30-Jan) : Officials just said there will be a do-over, game to be replayed in Atlanta.
packerfanwayoutwest (30-Jan) : Congratulations to the referee crew - the AFC Championship MVP.
Zero2Cool (30-Jan) : MVS accepted the highest contract offer, fortunately, it was with a damn good team with a BRILLIANT head coach. I love Andy Reid.
Zero2Cool (30-Jan) : I was pulling for Eagles/Bengals and Bengals winning. I despise the knoblicking Chiefs team
go.pack.go. (30-Jan) : MVS made the right decision to ditch Green Bay
umair_010 (30-Jan) : That game yesterday was clearly rigged by the refs. I had no investment in either team winning.
Martha Careful (30-Jan) : Bengal defense is really strong. Chiefs have run out of ideas and receivers'
buckeyepackfan (30-Jan) : Nobody saw or heard the ref. Stop the play.
buckeyepackfan (30-Jan) : Wow then def hold. Bengals got screwed. Have to see if it hurts
buckeyepackfan (30-Jan) : WTF do over?
nerdmann (30-Jan) : MVS lighting it up tonight.
Mucky Tundra (29-Jan) : 49ers QB Josh Johnson suffered a concussion
Mucky Tundra (29-Jan) : Eagles punch it in from the 1 and that should be game
Mucky Tundra (29-Jan) : Purdy back in the game for the 49ers
TheKanataThrilla (29-Jan) : And you couldn't think things could get worse for the 49ers?
Mucky Tundra (29-Jan) : Brutal stretch for 49ers: give up a TD inside the 2 minute warning, fumble on the next possession with another Philly TD
Mucky Tundra (29-Jan) : 49ers down to their 4th string QB Josh Johnson
beast (29-Jan) : I've wonder if something in the background didn't look great or if someone bad mouthed him... otherwise, I don't know why he dropped. Maybe, just maybe they didn't see him as a starter nor ST stud?
beast (29-Jan) : Also, he has played some passing down DT... he's very physical, very long, extremely smart hand usage and great effort... just not the most athletic.
Mucky Tundra (29-Jan) : He also has long arms which teams like on their edge players
