I think that the Packers could have probably done a little more to sure up some weaknesses (although I've felt that way most years). I could see an argument that Gute tried to address some weaknesses this year, but that he isn't going "all in" on this season in hopes of making a stronger push next year. Perhaps he thought it would take another offseason to truly bring the Packers into contention. I wouldn't call this "punting", but it'd be hard to argue he did everything possible to chase a Super Bowl this season.

It is curious that the accolades for the past regime were endless...and now the cupboard there is a realization that "the talent just isn't there"

Also despite the tightwad teddy label, they surely spend all but 5 million of their money which they keep rolling over year to year (so they 5 million is really from like 2007, so it's not a current waste)... and the contracts they signed were just getting to be too much with the talent they were getting out of them. I think over paying their own, might of been their biggest problem, with guys like Randall Cobb being over paid and not quite delivering.

But I'll still say, I don't believe Thompson followed a strictly BPA as some say... because it took a while but I did notice a pattern... under Thompson the Packers often drafted for need, especially with their 2nd round pick... it's just they looked at 2 year plan needs... and they often drafted/filled next year's need with an important guy going into a contract year. Which fans didn't noticed as a need at the time, because we just assumed that player would be resigned. Using that method, I surprised myself and correctly predicted that in 2017 the 2nd round pick would be a Safety (Burnett/Haha contracts were coming up).

Mike needed to not fall flat on his face early this season to keep his job. They got the wins (the Vikings game was stolen from us,) but the WAY he did it was just too damn sloppy.

He needs to knock it out of the park to keep his job. Swing for the fences, Mike.

dfosterf (1-May) : Not going to be shocked if Gilmore goes to the Lions.
dfosterf (1-May) : I hear you dhazer, but my guess would be Gilmore Colts and Howard Vikings from what little has been reported.

beast (27-Apr) : Reportedly Packers have UDFAs Jennings and Jones
beast (27-Apr) : OL – Donovan Jennings, USF OT – Trente Jones, Michigan
TheKanataThrilla (27-Apr) : Interesting draft. A bit shocked that we didn't select an early CB. Definitely have Safety help. Pretty happy overall.

TheKanataThrilla (27-Apr) : I think he ended up with a terrible RAS score
dhazer (27-Apr) : Anyone know what went on with Kitchens from Florida? At 1 point he was to be the Packers 1st round and he is way down the board now
