Vikings receiver Percy Harvin, a strong candidate for NFL offensive rookie of the year, missed an extended stretch of practice over the past two weeks and last Sunday's game against the Bengals due to a severe migraine headache.

But NBC's Andrea Kremer also points out that Harvin learned this week that he has two bulging disks in his neck. He'll be visiting the Mayo Clinic on Tuesday with a team doctor for further evaluation.

Making the news even more surprising is that there has been no whiff of Harvin having a neck problem on the official injury report.

As to the migraines, Harvin's most recent bout included loss of vision and vomiting. He also is concerned that some teammates might wonder whether the illness is genuine.

"Guys could see how blood shot my eyes were from crying and they saw me throwing up in meetings," Harvin said. "I think they know what was going on with me."

Still, with the Vikings getting ready for the playoffs and Harvin playing such a key role in the team's 2009 offensive upgrade, some players will resent Harvin if a migraine keeps him from participating in a postseason game that the team loses.

This really is a shame.

He has done everything right. He's taken control of his life and stopped showing these character issues which made him fall down the draft.

And now he's camping with all kinds of problems. It really is a shame, Viking or not.

Holy balls.. Mike Florio is REALLY trying to stir the pot with that last statement.. Someone needs to knock that guy the fuck out.

God I hate that bastard.. You have a guy that genuinely hurt with chronic migraines and bulging disks.. and you try to stir shit up by making the piss poor assumption that some of his teammates will resent him?!

Your in my prayers, Percy.

Yeah, that article was horrible. Any type of injury to the neck or head should be taken seriously regardless if it is preseason, reg season, or post season/superbowl.

I heard he had swelling on the back of his neck. Blood shot eyes and throwing up during meetings are not a good signs at all.

Hope this guy gets better because he is a great player and can be for years to come...if proper care is taken with these injuries.

I think the article was more of an intended cheap shot at Hines Ward for his concussion comments
