Dale bitching about the bitching is one of my favorite features of the chat.

It's like bitching squared or something.

I don't think anyone is ever okay with losing to a divisional opponent. However, watching them flirt with the Super Bowl then share a very similar fate as we did in '07 ... sure does make it just a teenie bit fun to watch.

Don't they say misery loves company?

My $0.02...

I hate the Vikings (and the other teams in the North div) and never want to see them win so regardless if they beat us once or twice, I will always be happy and say something when they lose.

This is football...you should never cheer or be happy for your rival.

I am not saying I liked it when we lost. I am saying I will accept the disappointment in good humor, the caveat is that it helps build that rabid fervor to that exalted height. Only from such great height can they make a satisfying enough splat when they hit. I wanted them to leave a crater.

If I have to suffer through 2 midseason losses to a divisional opponent, and still make the playoffs, I'll accept the bargain. To see that light go out in their eyes as hope died... priceless.

Not only for the Viking fans, but the Favre apologists and disgruntled bashers who want (some times secretly, sometimes not) the Pack to be miserable failures with out him, and want him to go on to the ultimate Glory. Those people are traitors and deserve to share in the death of hope.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

I haven't read all the posts so maybe someone has already expressed these sentiments but here I go anyway.

There's no difference between 2nd and 32nd. In the end it makes no difference that they made it further than us. In fact if someone wanted to really get under my skin they'd have an easier time reminding me of super bowl 32 rather than attack our 6-10 season a year ago. It can be so crushing to get so close and fall short and I'll be damned if I won't exploit that feeling in my mates who are bears or queens fans because I'd wholly expect them to do the same to me.

i agree in part david...the point is not talking shit...joking around with other fans is funny if u talk with smart people and u bring respect with all the teams...this could be a problem if u talk with jerks, even if u win or lose....we have so much of this problem in italy wen u talk about soccer...something that i like of sport usa is that u can joke with other fans and nobody get mad or take in bad way...

just be sure of talking with someone who loves your sport as much u do nad bring respect to e everybody

All I have been hearing from fellow Packers fans all off season, is how the Vikings choked against the Saints. They seem to take a lot of pleasure out of this. I don't.

If a team beats you twice, and advances further than you in the playoffs, you look really stupid giving that team shit when they lose.

That would be like if Bears fans would have gave us shit after we lost in the Wild Card round. "Haha the Packers lost. You suck!" My reaction to that would be, uh, guess what..you didn't even make the playoffs. And we kicked your ass, so shut your mouth.

I just think that as a fan, when your team is on the losing end, you should just be quiet. Talking shit about a team that beat your ass twice, is just, well, lame.

Flip the script. Say we sweep the Vikings this year, and lose in the SB. Afterward, Vikings fans litter the forum with stuff like, "Haha I knew you guys would choke."

Wouldn't you think that would be horribly lame? Of course you would. Well, that's exactly what a lot of Packers fans have saying about the Vikings since their playoff exit.

I don't like it. Thoughts?

My thoughts are you can still talk about the big picture.

1) The vikings and the Lions are the only NFC teams without a George Halas Trophy.
2) The vikings have ZERO Trophies in their first 50 years
3) World Championships! You can respect Tampa Bay and the New Orleans because they they have won a World Championship. You can't respect some expansion team that has never won a World Championship, and no trophies.
4) You can still call the vikings a team about to be homeless at the end of next season. Talk about where they will move. Mexico City, Oklahoma City, or Memphis.
5) You can talk about the vikings being the lowest revenue team in the NFL. The team testified to it in hearings before the MN Legislature.
6) Talk about an absentee owner that spends less than 30 days a year in the state of Minnesota.
7) Talk to them about their 6th round pick drafted as a WR. He is the only QB they have under contract for next season.
8) Talk about how nice flyovers are at the end of the StarSpangled Banner. A great moment in sports. Talk about the fun of seeing the blimp arrive in town for the big game. They won't have an answer.
9) Talk about the beauty of natural grass, natural sunlight, natural ventilation. They know nothing about such things.
10) Talk about how nice it is to win a Super Bowl and what you did to celebrate. Ask them what they did the last time their team won a Super Bowl.

There is a reason I am a sports fan, so I can mock the opponent's fan. Being a Packers fan I love making fun of Bears, Lions and specially the Viking fan. I live in CA and I see people from MIN, DET, CHIC they are loyal fans to their, and therefore I can rub it in their face when we have kicked their asses. What's even better when Packers give them a ass whooping, so what I am saying is be yourself and have fun, all you got to know is don't take it heart.
