I'n not going to try to defend Brett and the way he's been playing like crap lately but I have started noticing something that's a bit discouraging. I remember when he came to the Jets in the offseason I mentioned I thought Mangini would be good for him similar to what Mike Macarthy did for him. If there's one thing I know about Brett is needs to be coached by someone who doesn't fear him. Favre himself will admit that he probably wouldn't even be in the league anymore if it wasn't for Holmgren. He rode his ass like a mule in the 90's sometimes making Favre wonder why he was so tough but now he knows that's exactly what he needed cause in the words of Holmgren "he was a wild stallion that needed to be reined in". After that Mike Sherman came and while they had some good years we started to see what happened when Brett ran the show with no consequenses. Brett's always thrown int's but the only other year I've seen him throw the real boneheaded ones were under Sherman. That year he threw 29 was ridiculous (although losing the whole starting Offense had something to do with it) but he needed a coach at that time.
Afer Sherman Mike Mcarthy came in and we saw again what Favre could do when coached. I've read people here saying that they never realized how dumb the int's were or how old Brett looks but if you would of seen him last year you would of seen a total different player who was runner up MVP. and of his 15 ints very few were of the bad decision version.
The reason I'm a little worried now is Manginin is starting to remind me of Sherman, "yes Brett" "whatever Brett" He needs to realize he's doing Brett a favor by getting in his face and he'll be repected for it. In the end Favre will always admit he still loves to be coached but if he isn't he's still that wild stallion even at 39.
Buy it or not but I had to get it off my chest as it started seeming to me like Jets fans just figured stupid plays Favre's made this year are just who he is which just isn't true. When coached he'll leave you way more excited and far less frustrated
