I bragged a way long time ago about my brother-in-law being a special-effects-guru in the movie business. Big-time.

My mom just informed my wife he was nominated for an Oscar, along with his 8 buds, for "Life of Pi" or whatever the hell it's called.

She made a big deal of it, as it's his last movie, he's retiring. I gotta say, when I got to see him in action, it was quite cool.

Don Elliott

I liked his Jurassic Park.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0254433/

He asked me to come work with him when I retired from the Corps.

I declined. He's union.

I'm so smart. I'd be at risk of being unemployed now, lol

His job was just so friggin' cool, I swear.

A fond memory:

I got to fabricate the firing pin and blow up a bus (dead-square in the middle of D.C, with hundreds watching) in the making of the movie, "Mars Attacks". It blew up several buildings in the process... [ they BUY those buildings- if you were wondering why a movie ticket is expensive] since I was "good at that sort of thing" He told everyone viewing that asked what was going on that we were making a ketchup commercial. (Approx. 70 tractor trailers there, all from CA. Union thing)

...In front of a girl I was dating at the time. (Between marriages, lol) DEMANDED I jump her bones that night... ( We call that a good date where I come from, lol)

He has always been a good guy to know, and the neatest thing? He has never actually watched a movie he very much helped make, according to my sister, (who is STILL a hottie, which is all how this came - about- the hottie part- imo - not blood, btw- my step-sister, one of 3 of them, all big-league hotties, my step-mom (her too, awesome in her day, not goofy-ugly over done in any way even now, think "Cher" here) dug my dad's intellect, or somesuchshit, lucky bastard)

Sorry, you'd have had to been there, 👅

A kindly 90-year-old grandmother found buying presents for family and friends a bit much one Christmas, so she wrote out checks for all of them to put in their Christmas cards.

In each card she wrote, “Buy your own present” and then sent them off.

After the Christmas festivities were over, she found the checks under a stack of papers on her desk!

Everyone had gotten a Christmas card from her with “Buy your own present” written inside, but without the checks!

My mom called my wife. He's up for another award, which he will attend (amazing)-I got to shoot pool with Spielberg, thanks to him, for example...just me and him, nothing token.

British Academy of film and television arts award. (I reckon he figures they are going to win that one, or maybe my sister pressured him- London)

I won sales associate of the month at store 4138 for December at the Home Depot! ( They didn't actually TELL me, they just put the award up- with one of those sticky-pins, in the break-room)

A mother is invited by her son, Anthony, for dinner. He lives with a female roommate, Tina.

During the course of the meal, his mother couldn't help but notice how pretty Anthony's roommate is. Over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact, she started to wonder if there was more between Anthony and his roommate than met the eye. Reading his mom's thoughts, Anthony volunteered, "I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you, Tina and I are just roommates.''

About a week later, Tina came to Anthony saying, "Ever since your mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the silver sugar bowl. You don't suppose she took it, do you?" "Well, I doubt it, but I'll email her, just to be sure. "

So he sat down and wrote an email: Dear Mama, I'm not saying that you "did" take the sugar bowl from my house; I'm not saying that you "did not" take it. But the fact remains that it has been missing ever since you were here for dinner. Love, Anthony

Several days later, Anthony received a response email from his Mama which read: Dear son, I'm not saying that you "do" sleep with Tina, and I'm not saying that you "do not" sleep with her. But the fact remains that if she was sleeping in her OWN bed, she would have found the sugar bowl by now. Love, Mama. --
