Wes Hodkiewicz of the Green Bay Press-Gazette announced Monday that the Green Bay Packers have signed street free agent wide receiver Sederrick Cunningham. Cunningham went undrafted in 2012 after playing his collegiate ball at the University of Furman.  There, he split time between receiver and kick returner.  He tallied 99 total catches with seven touchdowns to go along with over 1,500 [...]

The Green Bay Packers have spent another offseason adhering to their strategy of all but ignoring free agency. Former Furman University wide receiver Sederrick Cunningham is the fourth free agent to sign with the Packers this offseason. All four were on the street at the end of last season. WR - Sederrick Cunningham - Furman (Bio ) 5'11" 188 lbs

The Green Bay Packers have signed a wide receiver whose playing credentials hardly merit an NFL look, but whose testing numbers were solid.

Sederrick Cunningham, who was draft eligible last season, caught just 17 passes for 340 yards his senior year at Furman, but four of those catches were for touchdowns and his long reception was 79 yards.

In addition, he returned 32 kickoffs for 853 yards and a touchdown that season, averaging 26.7 yards per return. It's likely he was signed more for his special teams ability than his receiving.

The 5-10 3/4, 198-pound Cunningham took part in both the Furman and Coastal Carolina pro days in 2012 and ran 4.52 seconds in one 40-yard dash and 4.46 in the other. He has a vertical jump of 35 and benched 225 pounds 11 times.

He did not sign with an NFL team in '12 and has no pro experience.

In four seasons at Furman, he played in 44 games, rushed 29 times for 238 yards (8.2 average), caught 95 passes for 1,196 yards (12.6) and seven touchdowns and returned 66 kickoffs for 1,549 yards (23.5) and one touchdown.

Sounds like a return specialist.

Made it consistent with the others for the new to Packers thread. 😆
