Ohh.. this could turn out to be some fun. A little manufactured drama across the Mississippi. After 2008, it would be fun to sit and watch this situation unravel more.

At least he is honest and it is about the money.

Jared Allen has “absolutely no idea” if he’ll stay with the Vikings

Earlier this week, Vikings defensive end Jared Allen said that he and the Vikings “haven’t talked one iota” about a new contract, but you can’t say the same about his conversations with the media.

Allen told Dan Wiederer of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that he has “absolutely no idea” where he will wind up playing in 2014 after his contract, which will pay him more than $14 million in 2013, with the Vikings expires. He’s seen veteran teammates like Matt Birk and Antoine Winfield wind up heading elsewhere and knows that this might be it for him in Minnesota, something that he admits would not be the case in his best-case scenario.

“Best-case scenario would have been that we would have never gotten to this point. Best-case scenario would have been the organization would have gotten something done a few years back,” Allen said. “Well ya know what? That’s not the case. And I understand it. … I’m just happy I’m in a spot where both sides are honoring the contract.”

And unravel it will.
You can lay to that!
An unstable personality and a wacko franchise will make for some good drama.
If only Mike Tice were still the coach, he could add some good sound bites to this comedy of errors in vikingville.[laughing]

Does it really even matter? He's coming off a knee injury and is in his golden years anyway. I hope they break the bank on him, AGAIN.

Point was, there are no certainties with this situation. I'd say it's a 50/50 chance he is signed in Purple again.

They'll be letting him walk, and Williams too. Spielmen is actually getting smarter with time. Although the Greg Jennings signing will be biting him in the ass eventually.

I can completely see Williams walking. Sounds like he was not happy at all about the restructure (and shortening) of his contract. But I still think if Allen has a decent year this season, he'll still test the market and end up in Purple anyway. Of course, that's all hinging on him actually having a decent year.

I'll still defend the Jennings signing with simple economics: More the need = more value = bigger transaction. Simply put, if the Vikings had a true #1 WR, they wouldn't have offered as much as they did. Wasn't so much about league-wide value as it was the team's need.

But hey, if we compare it to the Bernard Berrian signing, the Vikings got a STEAL with Jennings. [grin1]

Kind of makes you long for the days of Carter, Moss, and Reed? Now that was a crew of receivers that could make any quarterback look good.

You really should tweak that function so that a quote can't changed, but in this case, it's just damn funny - and since Numbnuts hasn't responded - the three inch thing is probably true. Nice work Zero.

TheKanataThrilla (14-Nov) : It is hard to compare the TD:INT ratio of Aaron to Tom Brady with all the intentional throw aways this year.

Nonstopdrivel (14-Nov) : 9.77 yards per attempt is stellar.
Nonstopdrivel (14-Nov) : His completion percentage is 67.1 but his TD:INT ratio is pretty abysmal. What bumps his passer rating is his phenomenal average per attempt.
Porforis (14-Nov) : I'm shocked his passer rating is that high. He's #29 in the leauge with a 61.1% completion percentage
Nonstopdrivel (14-Nov) : On that scale, Ryan Fitzpatrick is the best QB in the league this season and Brock Osweiler is the worst.
Nonstopdrivel (14-Nov) : I compiled all the NextGen stats and normalized them, and the final ratings ranged from 64.8 to 34.4 on a 100-pt scale. That's not helpful at all.
Nonstopdrivel (14-Nov) : NextGen stats really suck for ranking QBs. The standard deviations are just too tiny. There's no spread.
Nonstopdrivel (14-Nov) : On the other hand, he has 6 fumbles, including 3 lost, which takes the shine off his numbers a bit.
Nonstopdrivel (14-Nov) : It's kind of amusing that Rodgers currently has a 17:1 TD:INT ratio and a passer rating of 100.0, yet it's clearly a down year for him.
Porforis (14-Nov) : STAT WHORE!
Nonstopdrivel (14-Nov) : Yes. That would give him a TD:INT ratio of 20. Brady's ratio in 2016 was 14
gbguy20 (14-Nov) : would that break toms record?
gbguy20 (14-Nov) : looking for Rodgers to throw 23 tds and 2 ints in the next 7 games. it's time to make a run.
Nonstopdrivel (14-Nov) : Odds that Rodgers breaks Brady's season record for TD:INT ratio?
