Last year the Rams played well, probably better than most, against her 49ers and Seahawks. I think part of this was that their defensive front got better penetration to mess things up in the backfield (Gore is not a make you miss guy and James is not a tackle breaker) and because their secondary sucked they played a lot of zone. Baltimore played much the same way.

One of the rams defenders talked about that and said the key was simple controlling the edges of the defense, saying their DEs kicked the 49ers OT butt...

Where the Packers edge guys DE/OLB got their butts kicked against the 49ers.

Matthews held his own but the DE to his side didn't making him do more than his role which open up a hole in his lane.

Pickett held his own but he doesn't have the quickness nor speed to stop the edge run to the outside where Walden was HORRIBLE.

Writing this makes me wonder.... if Picket and Matthews were on the same side, would they of been able to shut down that side? ... forcing the 49ers to go to the other side / middle where the defense could attempt to load up on? Just a thought...

He's a 2nd round pick. #19 in R2. He must produce. Had a difficult start, but was making some progress. All I want is to see him progress next season. Not pushing for him to play at all this year. Give him a year post surgery, and see what the kid can really do. I'm hopeful. I like him. He's shown virtually nothing thusfar to be honest... I was disappointed with his 2012.

i think next year when he is at 100% he will be better than he was last year. he has the right size and he did get 2 sacks i think . that offense the niners put on us was never used til that game . they knew if they went in and played like they did with smith their new qb would not have been able to stay up with rodgers. they studied our defense and then the coach went into his old stanford playbook and unleashed it. i just dont think it will work this time around with crabtree out and gore questionable. who knows we may go in ready for the read option and they go to old fashion football

Kaepernick is gonna get concussed, and that will be the end of the Read Option.

Nerdmann haha...

Anyway I am actually looking more at Neal and Daniels this year to contribute but look to be pleasantly surprised if Worthy makes some positive noise.

I would like to see us get a couple more big 3-4 DEs. Then move Worthy to nose if he can put on the weight and get the job done.

Agreed. I'm tired of people saying about Kaepernick and Wilson of Seattle, "Oh they're not running QBs like Vick, they avoid contact by sliding and getting out of bounds, they're smart etc." All it takes is the one time they do go for the first down instead of getting out of bounds, one James Harrison like cheap shot, one play where the defender comes in for a tackle before the QB got down for the slide and that'll be it.

In all fairness doesn't Aaron Rodgers already have two in his Pro career? That being said we have a superbowl win :)

Yeah and guess what. We don't run the Read Option.

uffda udfa (1h) : Sam Shields still having headaches but wants to continue playing.
uffda udfa (1h) : Not harsh. Another failure and playoff embarrassment.
uffda udfa (1h) : Aaron cried a little when asked about Jordy playing today.
GoPack1984 (1h) : Dismal season? I think that's too harsh.
uffda udfa (2h) : Packers should have never been 4-6. Dismal season.
GoPack1984 (2h) : ...with the current defense.
GoPack1984 (2h) : Good season. Great rebound from 4-6. Would have loved to have seen them go to the Super Bowl and win, but I don't know if that was realistic
uffda udfa (2h) : •thanks Shakespeare.
The_Green_Ninja (2h) : Mike at the end of the day is with the team every day and knows what is needed and not needed. Don't be surprised if Mike helps push the cha
Nonstopdrivel (2h) : Bated*
uffda udfa (2h) : It won't change until Ted is gone. I await that day with baited breath.
uffda udfa (2h) : Nobody has ever lost a championship game by as big of a margin as us. Title Town revolt.
uffda udfa (2h) : Did I hear wrong or was that the biggest beatdown in championship game history? Nice.
Nonstopdrivel (2h) : ndedly fill in all the holes on the roster.
Nonstopdrivel (2h) : I do get the same sort of complacent vibe from the Packers front office that cost Bill Polian his job. You can't rely on the QB to single-ha
The_Green_Ninja (2h) : Thomas Brady has been given tools his whole career. It's up to the Packers to start doing the same.
The_Green_Ninja (2h) : As much as I loved brett, Aaron is right. We need more tools and HE is the QB that deserves the tools
shield4life (2h) : & management
shield4life (2h) : Blame the coaching
The_Green_Ninja (2h) : This is near the same time Brett started saying the same stuff.
uffda udfa (3h) : That is exactly what Aaron is saying. We don't do what needs to be done to win. Same song over and over.
uffda udfa (3h) : Aaron is a troll and a hater and doesn't understand the game. Who is he to say such things?
Zero2Cool (3h) : Probably reading into it wrong, but I think he's saying to front office. Do. More!
Zero2Cool (3h) : Rodgers says "We just gotta make sure we're going all-in every year to win....we can take a big step this off-season"
uffda udfa (3h) : MM: We ran into a buzzsaw today. LOL. U came with no tools at all.
hardrocker950 (4h) : They showed up and played, we crawled in and died...
mojaveson (4h) : Kudos to the Falcons. I hope they win the Super Bowl.
uffda udfa (4h) : All credit to ATL. Not a word about needing to get better.
Zero2Cool (4h) : Ran out of talent, something we didn't have a plethora of on defense (my opinion)
uffda udfa (4h) : MM: Ran out of gas but proud of his guys.
