Brett Favre has a street and a restaurant in his namesake.
Mike Holmgren has a street in his namesake.
Reggie White has a street in his namesake.
Donald Driver has a street and statue.
And the one responsible for bringing them to Green Bay, Ron Wolf? He has ziltch.
I would rather see Wolf get a street before Mike McCarthy. McCarthy shouldn't get one until he's long since retired. I felt the same about the others.

No bias, for sure, from Eliot. With that said, sure, why not? Would "14th Avenue" or "Valley View Drive" be all that offended if they had to give up their name for Ronnie?

This is just my opinion.. but I would rather have them name sections of Lambeau after the greats in place of adding additionally costs to the city to change a street name. Holmgren way was a construction addition at its time I believe.. but I believe part of the road was established.. I was just leaving GB for a second time around that time.

I honestly have no clue what else goes into naming a street. Do you have to call up Google Earth and Mapquest too when you have it changed? I don't know - but aside from that I'd assume just changing the street sign wouldn't be too much. Make the Packers pay the city. I just spent $40 at the pro shop, use that money!

There are costs and headaches associated with all residents/businesses switching over the addresses. Because it is the city pushing for the change, I believe the cost filters to the city. In the Mike McCarthy change.. I believe the holdup was to have the Packers pick up part of the costs.
Forgot to mention the costs at the postal routing centers.. although I have no idea how to quantify that.

Wasn't it Gross Ave?
I think the section of it west of Lombardi Ave is now HOlmgren Way. Not sure.

If I remember correctly.. the route behind the mall was new.. extending up to the existing part that connects to Lombardi.

More on the costs..
SourceEven though they seem completely absurd.
Quote:To change “Ashland Ave” to “McCarthy Ave”, it would cost the state about $10,000. However, if we change it to the longer “Mike McCarthy Ave”, there would be an additional cost of $390,000 ($400,000 total). This is because there are 5 signs that are too small to fit the longer name. Those signs would need to be replaced, and their respective support structures would also need to be rebuilt.
And it was gross.
Quote:As for the specific streets that Alderman De Wane mentioned, Brett Favre Pass is in the Village of Ashwaubenon, not Green Bay. Same thing for Reggie White Way. And as for Coach Mike Holmgren, that road is similar to Ashland, in that it spans two municipalities. In June 1997, the Ashwaubenon Village Board voted to change Gross Ave to Holmgren Way. But Green Bay said no. So if you’re driving north on Holmgren Way, as you cross Lombardi Ave into the city of Green Bay, the name is still Gross Ave. So it’s certainly not what the “people of Green Bay do for their Super Bowl champion coaches.”

You want your business cards saying Potts Ave or Mike McCarthy Way? Exactly, enough whining already!
To the important aspect ... GIVE RON WOLF A STREET!

I could see Potts. But Ashland is a major thoroughfare.
Anyway, the whole street naming thing is a JINX. Wait until he's done.

I fail to see the need to rush out and name streets after coaches and players while they are still active with the team. Mike would have been just as honored if they waited. I think it would have been more meaningful as well.
Oh well not my worry.
