Even though it wasn't the Seahawks fault, I think the Packers, specifically Aaron Rodgers, will be aiming to light up the Seahawks.

I think Jeff Janis will be returning punts when they play the Jets.

Obviously I hope the Packers win but even more than beating the defending SB champions in their house and even more than having a 1 game lead on one of the best team in the conference and even more than starting 1-0 maybe it will finally shut people the hell up about the fail mary game. OK, not more than those things as they are much more important but I can't think of a better incidental result of a win than finally getting to lay that thing to rest.

Its over and done. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers may well be looking to light it up but I doubt they are thinking too much about one game that happened 2 seasons ago.

No offense zero but if the Packers don't beat the seahawks for the next 20 years people will still be bringing up the revenge factor for that game.

I really can't believe some people, maybe not you specifically zero I am just using your post because it was handy, are still so obsessed with that game.

While I'd love to see them clobber the Seahags 100-0 for revenge, I'll also take a normal win by my team over the defending Super Bowl champs on the road (if that makes sense).

To be honest, I feel like we'll get the highlight as the game starts but it will be quickly buried lest it remind people of all the other atrocious officiating that occurred with the scabs.

If Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson would have said, "You know, things happen, we got a lucky break there, but we'll take it," or something like that, I would have been able to let it go.

Carroll got kicked out of college football for cheating, and his true colors showed in the wake of that Fail Mary game. Fuck him. Shut his pie hole for him, if he's not willing to shut it himself.

Whenever someone says "no offense", that means offense is intended and is usually taken. Big Grin

I think this game has a touch of revenge and it's balls to the wall and that opinion is predicated on what I've heard/read players and coaches say about it. Mike McCarthy has said a few times how important it is to win this game. He hasn't spoken those words in direct light of Fail Mary and I believe he was over it first. As evidenced by my comments, I was done with it a long time ago.

Read this article with Aaron Rodgers comments and tell me you think he's entering this game as ho-hum another game. This guy still pissed off that he went 24th overall back in 2005 and you think he doesn't have something extra for this game? You add in that he missed what half of 2013?

I have said many times. Fail Mary wasn't the fault of the Seahawks, it was the officials. It wasn't the fans, it wasn't the players, it wasn't the coaches... it was the officials. I think Packers fans are pissed off at how the Seahawks portray the win as they earned it, instead of acknowledging it was given to them.

The officials didn't make them act like they deserved the win.

Hmm just had a quick thought. What if that play occurred this season with the NFL office in New York reviewing everything?

This game burns my ass and the 4th and 26 loss the the Eagles also burns my ass. I can be pissed at the refs for blowing the call, but I am still pissed that our D coordinator didn't draft up a play to give Wilson next to no time to think and let their guys get down field to have a shot at a play. To me it makes little sense and I don't see how the percentage of success is better to allow a hail Mary type scenario vs. a need to get the ball out of his hands quick scenario.

That was far from the only bullshit call.

The official who made the ruling after the review said he blew the call and it should have been an INT. The real officials released a statement saying it was a blown call.

My guess is that it gets overturned.

First of all I think if you are going to start a new thread Zero you should claim it as your own and not assign it to someone else. I did not create this thread. I replied to Zero's post in the Cobb punt return thread and he decided it should be a topic on its own. I'm OK with that I just think he should take credit for making it a topic on its own.

Second, I can't help if you take offense to something that really wasn't that offensive in the first place. As I said in my next paragraph of that post I am not singling you out. You may very well be over the call but you did bring it up and that is why I used your post a launching off point for my reply. It could have just as easily been anyone elses fail mary reference.

Finally I have no doubt that Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers and I hope the rest of the Packers team and coaching staff are NOT treating this as another ho-hum game. This is not only the Packers first game of the new season it is the first game of the entire league. Everyone will be watching. It is against the defending super bowl champs. They are the ones that many are saying are the best team in the league. The Packers have something to prove after last season. This is a chance to prove to everyone who thinks they can't play with the big boys that they are wrong. It is a chance to prove to everyone who does think they have what it takes that they are right. It is far from a ho-hum game and there are many many reasons not to treat it as such but IMO a bad call in a game 2 seasons ago that was beyond their control is not one of them. Quite frankly if all that this game is isn't enough to motivate a player and they need to rely on the memory of that game I would have to severely question their motivation in the first place.

I respect your right to have your opinion but that doesn't mean I agree with it or respect you for having it.

The Seahawks' style of play in the secondary last year was indeed capitalizing on the tug. grab, and tug again leeway given by the NFL referees.

It is a new year with a new directive to the ref's by the N.F.L. competition committee.

The Seahawks secondary is really fucked if they even consider playing they way they played last year.

Packers will put up 300 yards in the air. Win by 17 points.

Trust R.P. on this.

Bet the farm.

During the preseason flag fest, the Seattle Seahawks were the only team to NOT get called for Defensive Holding.
