I think its pretty safe to say Rodgers has had the best year of any QB, even though he finished with a slightly lower passer rating than Romo. Rodger's passer rating would have been better had everyone on the team not dropped a pass against Buffalo, though admittedly it isn't fair to disregard Rodger's worst game.

Romo has to do a lot less due to the Cowboy's running game (as mentioned previously) here are some stats to back that up:

Romo has thrown 435 passes compared to Rodgers at 520. Romo has 9 ints to Rodgers' 5, or 2% of every pass intercepted vs a ridiculous 0.9% for Rodgers.

Romo played with the most productive running back in the league, and its not even a contest. Demarco Murry rushed for 1,845 yards with a 4.7 average, the second leading rusher was Le'Veon Bell at 1,341 yards and 4.8 average respectively. Every defense that played the Cowboys had to take their running game seriously, which should make it easier for the Quaterback to be productive.

Its debatable whether Romo is even the Cowboy's MVP.

I love stats!!!! ...
Okay so the NFL MVP award will be handed, err earned later on and many feel it is Aaron Rodgers who deserves it most. Wrong, and the stats will help validate this reasoning.

Aaron Rodgers
11th in NFL with 65.1% completion
3rd in NFL with 8.3 yards per attempt
2nd in NFL with 111.0 passer rating

Tony Romo
1st in NFL with 70.3% completion
1st in NFL with 8.5 yards per attempt
1st in NFL with 114.4 passer rating

Both QB's have the same amount of wins this season so ... sickening feeling approaching again ... the more deserving QB is Tony Romo.

Where Rodgers pass that qualification with no problem. Making Rodgers CLEARLY the more deserving of these two... now if you want to add in the Cowboys RB this might be a whole different ball game, but if's not Romo.

I'd have to echo what others have said; I can't even be sure Romo is the MVP of his own team let alone the whole league. Watt is truly a special talent and the defensive POY but he is at a position that is unable to lift his team into the playoffs. Is he more valuable to his team than Rodgers? I can't accept that.

Granted maybe only QB and RB's are in a position to win the award in today's NFL but that is the nature of the game.

Plus, Romo plays most of his games INDOORS.
What would AR's stats be if he played most of his games in a dome?
Maybe if the Cowboys knock off the "Kitty Cats" next week, we will get to see which QB is better in the cold outdoors.

Ok Romos stats are better but because he has a running back that led the league so that takes him out, well what about Big Ben his numbers are pretty good, oh wait he has Bell and Brown so he is out. But yet we have 2 wrs over 1000 yards and 10 tds and a pretty good back in Lacy but hey that don't matter. Why aren't we bringing Brady into this because if you take him off that team they would be lucky to win 3 games, oh wait he plays in NE so he is disqualified lol. Your right give the award to Rodgers just because he is a Packer.

Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Tony Romo has a very good receiving duo in Bryant and Witten, plus the best RB in the NFL. Murray had over 2250 all purpose yards.

Ben Roethlisberger had some crazy good games along with quite a few average or worse games, he's not a consistently elite QB. I don't even need to find stats or supporting arguments for this one.

Tom Brady had a very good year, but not a particularly exceptional one (97 rating, 7.1 average, 33 TDs vs 9 INTs). He plays with the best TE in the league and had two 900+ yard receivers in Edelman and LaFell, in fact his top 3 targets were all in the top 30th in receiving yards. The Patriots don't have a super star RB, thats a valid point. However, I'm not sure the Patriots only win 3 games without Brady, in recent memory Brady, Manning and Rodgers have been hurt, the outcomes:

Patriots went 10-6 anyway with a career backup
Colts sucked horrendously and got Luck
Packers were a below average team that needed the bears and lions to absolutely collapse for them to win the north. Had Rodgers been out the entire year, do they even get 4 wins? Probably 6 wins at most with either Flynn or Tolzien.

Peyton Manning probably deserves some consideration here as well, but I think everyone is just sick of him winning it so it hasn't been brought up.

I don't think anyone is saying Rodgers should get it just because he's a packer, but rather because there is a very legitimate case to be made that he was the best QB this year. Everything I've seen from the media in general suggests Rodgers will be the MVP, this clearly isn't a homer thing.

Just stupid, and with the rules bending to further protect the QB so that they can put up Madden numbers, I don't see another position hardly getting a look for this mis-named award.

There are a few QB's almost as good as Rodgers right now but there is no DE or defensive player even close to the standard of JJ Watt, that is why he should be MVP.

Watt didn't win MVP during his amazing season in 2012, where he posted the highest grades metric of any defensive player ever, and the Texans were 12-4.
He produced a higher score last year, but didn't have the sack total and the team was 2-14.
He's playing his best ball of his career this year, and contributing on offense.
But he still won't win it.
We will never see a defensive player win MVP again. It's sad, really.

Elite quarterback play simply does more to elevate a teams overall performance than a single elite defensive player. Personally, I think many of the rule changes are silly, but they are what they are and they are not going away.
