Regardless of the claims presented, I don't accept it was accidental. That said, I can see why Cottrell overturned it... there is nobody past Suh that can actually know his intent. And regardless of the word in the interest of safety of the players, it was in both the NFL and NFLPA's interest to have his suspension overturned.

That said, the next time a defender is levied a suspension for a hit, they are going to have a hard time selling the penalty because intent can be argued much like this. One can see the NFL's next black eye in the PR department coming.. more consistency issues until they get a uniform process into place.

A late hit out of bounds......"I didn't see the white line, so i didn't INTEND on hitting him out of bounds"......no suspension.
