The Green Bay Packers have done a good job addressing areas of need in recent years. When the run game ranked near the bottom of the league in 2011 and 2012, the Packers drafted Eddie Lacy to rejuvenate the backfield. In 2013, Green Bay was the only team to not record an interception from the

There's depth here, just unproven. I like Nate Palmer too.

The best case is Clay Matthews is used just like he was used late last season - mostly at ILB, going back to OLB in a few obvious passing situations. I'd MUCH rather have Matthews and Barrington inside and Peppers paired with Elliot or Perry or whoever on the outside - instead of Ryan, who I see as a "plodder" kinda like A.J. Hawk - even when he gets acclimated to the defense. I don't expect Palmer to make the team. Depth at ILB is more likely to come from Hubbard or Mulumba.

Junior Galette's available .

On the field, Junior Galette is a great pass rusher, coming off back-to-back double-digit sack seasons.

The problem with Clay playing inside more than outside us that he has proven he cannot take the pounding an ILB takes
All you have to do is look back at the last game last year.
When the team needed him most he was on the sidelines.
Best scenario is Clay gets moved around a lot early until Ryan or one of the other guys claims the position.
Then put Clay outside the majority of the time after that.
Barrington is ready, my hope is someone other than Clay stands out in preseason.

Ryan was Bill Polian's favorite player in the draft. I fear like Tex that he's AJ Hawk all over again.

The two great hopes, at ILB, are Joe Thomas coming back from his injury after flashing well last year as a UDFA and the YouTube sensation from Bethune Cookman, Tavarus Dantzler.

Not many other players I'm more interested in seeing.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

Too brittle for the inside, loosing half a step on the outside. Needs to be able to get it done when it matters most.

I wouldn't expect Matthews to be any more likely to get hurt playing inside. Shit happens - hamstrings happen, if anything, more likely outside where bursts of speed are more likely; Breaking a thumb or hand. I don't see that as more likely inside either.

Matthews seemed to be slipping last year - just slightly - as a OLB. He did great a ILB. That performance inside made the difference in the Packers D late in the season. The other reason I want him inside is yeah, I do not have any faith in Ryan. On the other hand, I am really anxious to see what Jayrone Elliot can do on the outside. I think given half a chance, he will outplay Perry by a wide margin. Barrington as the second best ILB sounds a helluva lot better than Barrington as the top dog ILB. And I still expect to see Hubbard and/or Mulumba get work at ILB. Dantzler is an interesting prospect too. I'm really pleased of the better athletes show up as the better football players. Hopefully that will happen.
