GREEN BAY — Undrafted rookie wide receiver Adrian Coxson was taken from Ray Nitschke Field in an ambulance after experiencing lightheadedness during the Green Bay Packers' first in-pads practice of training camp Saturday morning.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Coxson, a 6-foot-1, 209-pound receiver from Stony Brook, left practice after feeling ill.

"We had a situation where he just was feeling fatigued, lightheaded," McCarthy said. "So he's under observation right now."

An Ashwaubenon rescue squad that is normally stationed at practice backed up into a parking lot by the Don Hutson Center and Coxson was loaded onto it by team medical personnel. Packers director of security Doug Collins was seen coordinating the effort.

Coxson was taken to a nearby hospital for tests, and his agent, Jonathan Herbst, told ESPN.com's Rob Demovsky that his client was still undergoing tests as of Saturday afternoon.

Coxson is one of a handful of promising undrafted free-agent wide receivers that the Packers have seen potential in.

The players are off Sunday before returning to practice Monday for another in-pads session.

Sounds like just a heat stroke type situation. Coxson's one of those young dudes who I really think can play.

I think they are just playing it safe. Remember several years ago when that Vikings player died during practice? I think his name was Stringer.
I was at the Packers practice that day, and word was going around and you could see how it was affecting the Packer players.

Adrian Coxson out of hospital, to have more tests after heat-related illness

The Packers were off on Sunday, but it's unlikely Coxson, an undrafted free agent from Stony Brook University, will be able to practice on Monday.

Hope he's all right. Has the potential to play with lightning in a bottle.

Makes you wonder if something else is going on. Not that I want to be in pads in 80 degrees, but clearly those aren't abnormal practicing conditions. Dehydrated, maybe some sort of heart condition??

For the good...gone are the days when the coach told you to "just walk it off, you'll be OK"...and "no water til after practice". Makes it seem like I grew up in the cave man era.

Martha Careful (14h) : IMHO, not even close. He is not a guy you game play around.
Mucky Tundra (17h) : is Aiyuk worth a 1st rounder?
Zero2Cool (18h) : 49ers are seeking a 1st round pick in exchange for WR Brandon Aiyuk
Mucky Tundra (22-Apr) : Based on Gutes comments, now I don't feel as silly having 13 picks in my mock the other day

Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Maye needs to be AFC
Mucky Tundra (21-Apr) : Not liking the idea of the Vikings getting Maye
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Vikings HC joked that he may or may not have sent flowers to Bob Kraft. That's where rumor came from.

dfosterf (21-Apr) : One playbook to my knowledge. I was shooting for facetious.
beast (20-Apr) : I'm not sure they have different playbooks for different OL positions, and Dillard run blocking is supposedly worse than his pass blocking..
dfosterf (19-Apr) : The only problem with that is he isn't a guard either.
dfosterf (19-Apr) : Put him at right guard. That is where he will be coached. That is where he will compete. He is not even allowed to look at the LT playbook.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Kidding aside, I hope the best for him.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Went to a Titans board. One comment there. Not very long. I quote: "LOL" They don't sound overly upset about our aquisition.
beast (18-Apr) : OT Dillard has been absolutely horrible... like OG Newman levels
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Suit him up and have him stand in front of the big board as a draft day cautionary tale.
