I still think the loss of Jordy Nelson is the biggest reason we are headed to another season letdown.
He took a lot of the D-backs attention away from other WRs, opening them up to make plays.
Someone will have to step up big, or our offense will just keep spinning its wheels.

How many Premium Free Agents are out there? How many actually live up to even 50% of their contract? Hardly any.

How many Premium Trade's are out there? Also, when trading there is leverage at play here. If a team KNOWS we are short on a position, they are going to try to bend us over the barrel and be greedy. Right? That's negotiating. It is not as simply as Draft Pick X for Player Y. And I know you know this, but what you're griping about implies you are missing the variables upon variables that go into a trade. Does the player fit the scheme? There is just so much involved and even when a trade does happen, rarely does it benefit the recipient of the player.

I'm a big fan of Adams and think he'll be a good #2 receiver in this league, but until he can consistently win his 1v1 matchups this offense is in some trouble. Also even though their 40 times are similar Jordy just seems faster, I don't think Adams will be that deep threat that everyone is hoping he'll be. His game is more geared towards turning short/medium routes into some serious YAC.

Also what the hell has happened to Jones? He used to be strong enough to muscle passed press coverage. Is that hamstring hurting him that much?

If WIN NOW mode would guarantee a win I don't see a problem with it. It doesn't however, and it can put a severe damper on your ability to win later.

Vernon Davis an upgrade over what we currently have?

Vernon Davis
2014: started 14 games, 26 receptions, 245 yards and 2 TD's
2015: started 5 games, 18 receptions, 194 yards and 0 TD

Richard Rodgers
2014: started 5 games, 20 receptions, 225 yards and 2 TD's (rookie season)
2015: started 7 games, 23 receptions, 205 yards and 2 TD's

Andrew Quarless
2014: started 11 games, 29 receptions, 323 yards and 3 TD's

Trading for Vernon Davis would have been a mistake for the Packers and it probably will not be that great of a move for the Broncos. Then again, Julius Thomas lit it up with Peyton Manning and hasn't done much since.

Derek Newton, OT, Texans ($5M/Year)
Byron Maxwell, CB, Eagles ($10.5M/year)
Curtis Lofton, LB, Raiders ($6M/year)
Orlando Franklin, G, Chargers ($7M/year)
Dwayne Bow, WR, Browns ($6.5M/Year with $9 million guaranteed)

I don't think they'll regret signing Davis either.

Vernon Davis is a far superior talent at tight end then our current guys and would have helped this team exponentially. Definitely worth a measly late round draft pick. But you stick with your stats that prove absolutely nothing.

At the time if I had to pick one for the same contract, I would have wanted Ware over Peppers for reasons I mentioned already.

Back to Vernon Davis. I would rather give up a 6th round pick for Vernon Davis based on potential than stay ho-hum with what we have.

Admittedly I'm probably over thinking when I say I think making a trade like that would give the team some urgency. I think it tells the team the "upper management" is wanting to win now. Yeah, the team knows they all want to win now, but this says it with actions, not just words.

Not even inquiring kind of says "our TE suck and that is ok, no one held accountable, everyone safe because we drafted yo ass".

And of course now that I said this, Davis will suck big time and whomever we draft in 6th round next season will be a Pro Bowl starter! 😂
