Also, there's the argument that the presence of the Packers, and the renovation of the stadium as a larger entertainment destination helps the entire state by bringing business (which pays sales tax) into the state where it wouldn't otherwise exist. In the case of the city of green bay, it also helps surrounding businesses.

I'm not aware of any studies that have shown the opposite to be true (that the benefit to local business does offset the cost to taxpayers), though I'd be interested if anyone was aware of such a study.

That said, given the unique setup of the Green Bay Packers, this might be the exception to the rule.

It's utter bullshit, but utter bullshit they'll keep getting away with, because of their monopoly and the demand for an NFL team in so many cities in the US alone, let alone outside the US. Don't want to fund a stadium? We'll just move to LA/San Antonio/Portland/Oklahoma City/Las Vegas etc.

I'm talking about Packers owners.

Instead of a sales tax for everyone, why not have each "owner" pony up $20?

I've had to pay school tax every year, even though I never had any children.

As was stated already, a stadium/sports franchise brings in lots of money into a community. Without the Packers, what would Green Bay be?

dfosterf (3h) : Put him at right guard. That is where he will be coached. That is where he will compete. He is not even allowed to look at the LT playbook.

Martha Careful (5-Apr) : Diggs has not stepped up in the playoffs and has a high cost
beast (5-Apr) : Probably not going to let Diggs walk away unless he's horrible... but according to reports he also might not be as good as he used to be.

Mucky Tundra (4-Apr) : Gotta imagine that Green Bay vs Houston will be a primetime game this upcoming season
Zero2Cool (3-Apr) : No. Kill QB. No worries. 😁
Mucky Tundra (3-Apr) : Diggs, Collins, Dell and Schultz is gonna be tough to cover
