I think the tree is not letting us see the forest. We are complaining about Aaron who is a player that any team in the NFL would want to have and we are not seeing the real problem: The secondary.

This has been our Achilles heel for years, from 4th and 26 to Russell Wilson winning an impossible game heaving the ball towards the endzone. We can't cover.

We haven't had an elite CB for ages, who can we name? Tramon? Shields? When Sherman drafted Ahmad Carroll and Joey Thomas our secondary went back ages, again we've never had good CBs. The lucky rookie season of Casey Hayward was another wound, so many people believed he was good and he was always bad, where is he now?
Now I think Teddy might have gotten a serviceable player in Rollins but I really don't like Randall. Time will tell.

Moving to the safeties, from Darren Sharper we've never had an elite safety nor even a decent one until Nick Collins. We played a whole season with MD Jennings as our best safety!
Losing Collins was a devastating blow. Is Ha Ha the next Ed Reed? It doesn't seem the case.
Morgan Burnett is another hard to explain case, he is not a playmaker and he is not good in coverage, now he plays a LBish role, why do we have it in the formation? Our secondary is so bad, so bad, that Morgan Burnett is allegedly a key component!

For years we've had to endure Brawoh Jue, Jarret Bush, Harris, Carroll, Peprah, MD Jennings, Hayward. Micah Hyde "covering" TEs.

How many times a QB had his best game of the season or his best game of his life against us? How many times McCowns, and Bradfords have looked like Tom Brady playing against us? This is what needs to stop.

Payton Manning on the way to retirement looked like a 25 year old guy against us. He destroyed us, what did he do the rest of the season?

You can argue we've been the top 10 defense against the pass in some years but the reality is that we usually don't play against good QBs, we are even blessed to play Cutler twice a year.

We can discuss all we want about Rodgers but we know what is happening when we face Tom Brady, Carson Palmer or any reasonable QB, we get burned over and over again and we lose.

It's a passing league and we can't stop the pass.

The defense held a division rival to 17 on the road. Even after given shitty field position all day. I'll take that every time.

What we need is a QB who is willing to execute the offense.

Stefon Diggs had 182 yards, how many times a WR got his best performance of the year/century/life against us?
Bradford threw for 286 yards and 2 TDs and it is freaking Sam Bradford and it was his first start with the Vikes.

So do you really want to take that every time?

Capers doesn't do a great job adjusting mid-game. But he does seem to make the most out of the players available. Our defense, much like last season isn't elite, but it's solid. The more drives you give an offense, especially with excellent field position where they're not afraid to be aggressive with the playcalling (unlike us perpetually starting at our own 5-15 for practically this entire season), the more likely it is that they're going to complete one of those big passes downfield.

We can do better, but it's not as terrible as some people make it out to be. Of all the things to be concerned about, I don't understand why anybody would be focusing on the defense. Offense and punting. Offense and punting. And offense.

I agree in part with Luigis . The Secondary is part of the overall team and has preformed poorly this and the recent past seasons. The other part of the overall team problem is the WRs .

Both have been and still are suffering from a bad case of SLOW ! [mad]
