Anyone know of a good site that predicts cap number?

I read an article where it said an expect million or so was supposed to be rolled over from this year into next years cap. This added to the expected cutting of Sam Shields might give us around and extra 20 something million to play with (assuming Ted breaks with tradition and actually pursues some guys). If this is the case, it should but us in the top 5 in total cap room.

According to Spotrac we have $9.4 carrying over from 2016 to 2017 and they assume a $168,000,000 team salary cap for 2017.

That said, they believe we'll have $35.5 million.

Cap hit in millions

Aaron Rodgers $20.3
Clay Matthews $15.2
Randall Cobb $12.75
Sam Shields $12.125
Jordy Nelson $11.55

James Starks $3.75 (he has to be cut)

If we cut Shields we save 12.125M ; but will have 3.125 in dead cap. This nets a 9M of extra cap space for 2017.
Starks must go as Z2C said. His cap savings is 3.75M with .75m in dead cap, netting a 3M of extra cap space. And I think Guion's contract will be voided [3.66m with .33 dead cap] netting 3.33M in extra cap [then they can resign him for closer to 1M, if they want him].

Thats' 51M but its counts only 36 players.

Salary Cap Link

This is the link Zero was alluding to.

I know it isn't happening, but it'd sure be nice to adjust Aaron's contract if he does in fact want to go "all in."

Based on the "Cap Hit" column ...
http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/green-bay-packers/cap/2017/

Randall Cobb (9th highest), Clay Matthews (4th highest LB), Sam Shields (10th highest) and James Starks are very much over paid.

I think it would set a horrible precedent to go to your leader, your quarterback, the only player on the roster who's worth the large contract he has and ask him to adjust his earnings.

Randall I'm ok with.

Dropping Starks and Shields with that rollover should put us near or over 50million in free space though. Should be able to sign a good amount of the guys we want back (Hyde, Lang, Perry, Cook, and maybe Lacy) and then if Ted actually does anything else, maybe bring in 2 high quality free agents.

I'm not clamoring for Rodgers to do this. Just saying if he's going to publicly state he wants the team to go all in, he can help the process.

I will say this. If Aaron went to the front office and said "hey, if you need me to move money around to help bring someone in, talk to me", I think that would be the most ideal move and selfless move. I know it sounds like I'm talking nonsense. I am just saying I think if Aaron goes to them, its good. If they go to Aaron, that's wrong.

I'll jump off my soapbox now.
