Undersized DE Mario Addison got 3 yrs 22.5M and will be 30 YO at start season.

In last 3 years he played 1162 snaps, got 1 start and missed 4 games due to injury. He had 9.5 [15 pressures], 6, 6.5 sacks from 2016 to 2014 respectively; and had 44 tackles, 27 assists and 39 pressures. He is a 1 trick pass rush pony, who can’t play the run, and he’s not a dominant pass rusher.

Perry will be 27.5 YO, missed 5 games in last 3 years, 17 starts and had 1110 snaps. He had 11 [17 pressures], 3, 3.5 sacks respectively from 2016 to ’14; and in 3 years 74 tackles, 41 assists, 29 pressures.

Generally, Addison came in on passing downs Perry went out on passing downs. As a pass rusher Addison is nowhere near where Perry was in 2016 and Perry is very good v. run; Addison is very bad.

If Addison’s market truly is 7.5M per; then Perry's market won’t be a dime less than 10M per and probably 12M, heck maybe some clown GM pays 14M.

I fear Addison’s contract signals the end of Perry in GB.

Nick Perry is Outside Linebacker right? I don't see but four players getting $10 million for 2017 and I struggle to see a oft-injured Nick Perry pulling in that kind of money.

We've got Fackrell, who I believe can be very good, but he's got to prove it by building himself up this offseason. We've got Datone, another Nick Perry style 4-3 DE when is good at stuffin the run as a 3-4 OLB. But he's still ascending at the position. I expect him to get better, and after all, he's on the right side, they want a run stuffing type to hold the point there.

Of course we've still got Clay, but we want to move him inside. He's lost it on the outside. Thhen again, maybe it's due to injury. Right?

Don't forget Jayrone Elliot too. He made some splash plays, so we brought him back. He bulked up, thinking it would help his game. Maybe bulk his ass back down. Dude can play in the NFL.

Basically we've got DEPTH. Which is what Perry is anyway. Does anyone really think Nick can be "The Man?"

According to Spotrac Perry is expected to get about 8.5/yr average.

We can probably get away with just a bunch of guys at OLB, IF we get somebody to go with Daniels so we can get some serious pressure up the middle.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

On 3-4 OLBs, Cleveland signed Collins for 12.5M per. Perry is a better pass rusher and they play equal against the run, except for the times Collins gets Janis-like. In last 3 years, Collins missed only 1 game due to injury; but he missed 4 with a suspension. So, he's one toke away from a big suspension.

Free agents:
Elliot has flashed and think he's adequate depth; but I don't see him starting and playing 6-7-800 snaps well [He played 136 in '16]. He's a RFA and we can min. tender him for just under 2M; I dont think hes worth that. I expect GB to non tender him and try to sign him 1 yr cheaper or maybe 2 or 3 years for just over 1M per. His work on special teams is almost worth that and it'd be a bonus if he can play OLB. His injuries this year really killed his 3rd year development.

UFA:
Datone: I think he will be a solid starter in 2017 and could become really good; but he's not on the team yet.
Perry: See above
Peppers: I think he's gone

2016 is the ideal situation: 3 slam dunk starters; a young ascending back-up close to being a starter [Datone] and 2 developmental guys [Elliot, Fackrell]. Right now we got 1 starter and 1 ascending Backup [Fackrell]; so we need 2 more starters; 3 if CM3 moves inside or gets cut.

Our defense is probably going to be bad (or at least unreliable) next year anyways so whatever.

I'm thinking if Ted could get Metz to sign that Spotrac deal, it'd already be done. If Metz was scheduled to sign it yesterday, he cancelled the meeting after Addison's deal.

Dont know about the bunch of guys at OLBs; not sure we'd have forced a punt in 2016 if we had a bunch of guys at OLB. Clark, Daniels and Clay stunting will give us great pressure up the middle in 2017.

Argh! Now Ingram gets tagged [14.75M]

He had a rough start, but got into a groove the last 2 years with 16 starts, 18.5 sacks [50 pressures] on 1920 snaps.
He had 8 sacks, 29 pressures, 6 stuffs, 46 tackles, 14 assists, 5 passes defended, 5 FF] in 2016 on 959 snaps.

Perry had 11 sacks, 17 pressures, 5 stuffs, 35 tackles, 17 assists, 4 passes defended in only 504 snaps.

Stat wise Perry significantly out produced Ingram on a per snap basis in 2016.

I thought Collins was overpaid; but Ingram's tag means the douchebags Browns set the market with that clown. Ingram at 15M is a decent bargain, if Collins is worth 12.5.

Now I'm thinking Perry doesn't get less than 12M! And the GM that thinks Perry will stay upright for 16 games will pay north of 15M for him.
