This topic comes up every year where we guess who that first Packer draft pick will be. I don't have the feeling we will move up on anybody. I can see us trade out of the first round depending on how the QBs fall and if somebody wants to get ahead of Cleveland if they decide to wait until their second round pick to select a QB.

My guess for the first round pick is Forrest Lamp. Many mocks have him gone, but I have the feeling he will be there. I would prefer a pass rusher, but I think a plug and play Guard to replace TJ Lang makes a lot of sense. That way we can let Bulaga and Spriggs battle for RT.

I don't believe in taking a running back in the first round, but since Thompson is so unpredictable, I'm going with Joe Mixon, running back out of Oklahoma.

Smoke, mirrors, misdirection are the general operating procedure this time of the year by GM's . Most GM's are like poker players that hold their cards close to their vest , while others prefer the boisterous public method of the big media attention campaign. Ted Thompson claims that he likes to pick the best players available, but a review of his past performances shows that he does pay closer attention to need than they acclaim .

GB's greatest need from the 2016 season is on defense, particularly at the CB position's . I believe that GB should and will for their 1st pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, choose the best available CB ! Lets Box!

You can't out guess Teddy. There is no way to know who is going to fall. I will take Sidney Jones, CB, Washington. Injured player, potential long range value. Right up Teddy's alley.

Second choice, Tyus Bowser, DE, Houston. He is another type of player Teddy loves. Someone who gained traction late. Some project him to go in the 2nd round.

TJ Watt. That's Ted's guy. People say Ted is unpredictable, because of the Justin Harrell pick, but more often than not, he takes the obvious choice.

If Watt is gone, they'll take Solomon Thomas, because he's the type of 4-3 DE 'tweener that Dom loves so much.

TJ was my second guess. His draft position seems to be all over the place. Some mocks have him going late teens early twenties. Some have him in the second round.

I can't seen Solomon Thomas falling out of the top 10.

It is hard to say who will be available during the 2017 NFL Draft at any point. I therefor offer the following :

1st round : CB
2nd round: DE
3rd round: OG
4th round: RB
5th round: WR
5th round: LB
6th round: ?
7th round: ?

Cheers!

I want the Mixon kid. Then in the second round I want a big, nasty road grader to plug in at RG. I want our offense to score 40 points a game.

Our corners were beat up all year last year, they aren't as bad as what we watched in Atlanta. And having House instead of Shields on IR should be a big plus.

Take Mixon in the 2nd. Get me a couple big, fast OLBs who can get to the QB.

Hoping for one of the following three in the 1st:

TJ Watt
Haasan Reddick
Kevin King

I see a trade out of the 1st round happening. If that is the case, I would hop in the 2nd they go with Quincy Wilson or Tyus Bowser.

I am actually surprised that the Packers had brought in Mixon for a visit. If they are going to take him, I hope it is in the 3rd round. If a team wants to draft him before that...ok.

I've seen a few sites that are mocking Bowser to us. Is there something I didn't read where we had him in or have expressed an interest? Trying to figure out why there is so much speculation that we are drafting him.

While Mixon is an interesting kid, Teddy hasn't shown much interest in drafting kids who had legal issues while in school.

Hitting the woman when he was a freshman might have been overlooked as just one of those things except for his over reaction when given a parking ticket just a few months ago.

That and Teddy doesn't seem to believe in drafting a RB in the 1st round even when given the chance.

Mixon doesn't seem to be Teddy's style. Who knows, since he is only 20 perhaps Teddy will do something surprising.

I am on board with your thoughts on the Packers and taking risks with players having this sort of behavior. The Packers had Mixon in for a visit though and I think if he is there in the 2nd round, the Packers attempt everything possible to get him. Having him in for a visit is the only thing that makes me think this way.

How would Packers fans feel about this selection if it did happen?

I haven't read many mocks tbh. I just like the way he plays and really think it is important to add a legit OLB that has pass rushing abilities. This will free Clay up to be that "anywhere" type linebacker that I think he excels at more than just playing OLB.

I for one, would be fine with that.
Once Lacy was out, having to depend on a guy that was drafted as a WR, a guy nobody wanted, and a UDFA
didn't sit well with me.
Getting a real, well rounded running back would go a long way to heal that wound that is festering.

yooperfan , did you say that you were festering ? You might want to visit a Clinic .

As for Montgomery , he has shown that his talents extend beyond the WR position. I believe that he will have an even better year this year at the RB position . As for drafting a RB , IMO value can be found in the 4th round or in the free agents still floating around or that will become available.

If Mixon is available by GB's 4th Draft selection , I say give him a try and see what develops. I'm quite sure that Mixon must be fully aware that his behavior would be very closely monitored .

GB NEEDS TO DRAFT THE BEST AVAILABLE CB FIRST !!! Pulling Hair Out

As long as it's the best player they can get and couldn't get the same player by trading back, I am good with it.

I think it's stupid (I use stupid here because in Madden I would do this lol) to take the best available at a certain position because you scout for a reason.

You never know what your position of need is until it's too late, this is why you always draft the best players available. One day you could be loaded at WR and after two pre-season games you are down your WR1 and WR2 and you passed on DeAandre Hopkins to fill a "position of need" from freaking April.

DRAFT BEST PLAYERS AVAILABLE!!!

A good question is who the hell is that going to be? I am college talent ignorant so I couldn't tell ya, but screw it, GO PACK GO!!

I'll kill 2 birds with one post.

My all "name" team from 1st pick.

Round 1 Pick 29: Budda Baker, FS, Washington (B)
Round 2 Pick 29: Obi Melifonwu, SS, Connecticut (A+)
Round 3 Pick 29: JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, Southern California (A-)
Round 4 Pick 27: Jessamen Dunker, OG, Tennessee State (A)
Round 5 Pick 28: Corn Elder, CB, Miami (Fla.) (A+)
Round 5 Pick 38 (COMP): James Conner, RB, Pittsburgh (A)
Round 6 Pick 28: Stevie Tu'ikolovatu, DT, Southern California (B+)
Round 7 Pick 29: Amba Etta-Tawo, WR, Syracuse (B+)

Budda Baker is my choice if Ted doesn't draft down.

Ted fineds someone in the top 5 of the 2nd round, then I see him trading out and taking T. J. Watt.

Well, at least you refrained from using the Packers people phrase. Flapper

The guy had a major lapse of judgment. At least he wasn't grabbing pussies, that'll land you in the Oval Office these days.

Pretty awesome draft minus the lack of an OLB. Can't see two WRs, but who knows. I am so hoping we get James Conner. Not sure he'll be there in round 5. He is a pounder like Lacy which is a good change of pace from Monty.
