GB's roster currently contains the names of 8 players that hope to make the 2017 team at the RB / FB positions. Those players names are as follow :

33 - Aaron Jones - R - RB
32 - Devante Mays - R -RB
88 - TY Montgomery - 3 - RB
34 - Kalif Phillips - R - RB
43 - William Stanback - R - RB
30 - Jamaal Williams - R -RB
22 - Aaron Ripkowski - 3 - FB
40 - Joe Kerridge - 2 - FB

Who will make the final roster or not remains to be a most curious training camp battle indeed .

Not really. If you think any of the walk-ons make it.

I think that if the Packers can put up someone opposite CM3, maybe it will make Clay play decent once again.
With no pass rush on the other side, he was pretty much held under control, as offenses could key on him knowing they didn't have to worry much about the other side of the line.

Point well taken.
Do you believe that GB has or will get such a player ?

Defense concerns me the most, but I also find other position battles interesting as well. The RBs for instance as I posted a few post back in this thread .

I really don't know, Smokey. A lot depends on if the guys already on the roster can step up and take control of the position.
I don't see Ted going out and getting anyone. It would be nice if he did, though. It would help a lot for our DB's to not have to cover for a ridiculous amount of time, because of the inability to pressur the QB.

This post almost makes me think we didn't have Julius Peppers the last 3 years.

Actually Smokey, McCray was not cut; he was traded for a conditional 2018 pick to Bills.

Cant find the details of the trade; but I'm guessing GB got a 7th if he was on roster through game 4 [Which he was]. And GB would get a 6th, maybe a 5th, if he hit a certain starting/production level at LB [he played in 13 games, 0 starts, 163 snaps], which I doubt he hit. I'm thinking GB gets a 7th for him next year, to go along with 4 comp picks, that's 12 picks next year!

For the record I didn't say he was cut. I said he didn't make the team. It's a 7th round pick.

Thanks for clearing that up , good information is always appreciated. Knowing that GB will have 12 Draft Picks next year will be just fine. I would like to what rounds those picks come in though. Confused

That brings to mind, what players will be free agents in 2018 ? Scared

The Packer's 3 day mini-camp will take place June 13th through the 15th. Let us look for the best in these men as they compete for a roster spot .

In addition , we should all bear in mind that even Champions suffer from injuries, but they don't need to place any blame on injuries for their seasons. The point is that if 1 or 2 players are key to a team winning, then that team was too shallow to begin with.

I don't see GB being shallow in 2017, unless the ILB's position is not up to snuff . I do have faith in the current ILB's as they add last season to their more experienced play. Blake Martinez will, I believe , step up his game in 2017 .

But let us stop placing blame for poor play on everything from injury's to voodoo . Every other team deals with the negatives, yet the best at dealing with it win Championships .

Nobody is using injuries as excuses.

Facts are facts.

Shields goes out the 1st game.

Ted assembled enough talent to absorb that injury.

Now when Goodson(everyone seems to forget about him), then Randall, then Rollins all go out, then The Packers had a problem.

When your #5 CB plays most of the year as your #1, don't care who you are, that is a problem.

The Packers lose Shields and Hyde, pick up House and draft King and Jones.

I've said this before and will keep saying it.

Last year's big problem on D, is going to be their biggest strength this year!

That's correct, when one of the most important position gets destroyed it's going to effect the team, and yes injuries happen to all team, but to suggest that they all happen equally is just foolish. I believe there was an article that said the Bears, Packers and Vikings were the top 3 teams effected by injuries (which means the division could look totally different this coming season if they stay healthy).

I didn't forget about Goodson, he's just not that good to mention normally... he played pretty poorly, and Gunter was CLEARLY ahead of him.

I'm nervous about the OLB depth after losing Datone and

(no matter how it gets destroyed (meteor strike for example), you were countin
I haven't forgotten about Goodson, he just sucked and IMO was clear behind Gunter and only ahead of the UDFAS because he's been around longer.

I'm nervous about the OLB depth... Matthews and Perry don't have the best track records of staying healthy. .. and while Fackrell and Elliot have shown good pass rushes, it was in very limited samples when they were very fresh and the offense may or might not of been.

Fackrell and Biegel aren't said to have the best recent history of staying healthy either.

Is 2nd year WR Trevor Davis GB's next Kick/Punt Return Specialist ?

The 6ft 1in , 188 lb WR has speed, but can he catch and does he have all the right moves ?

Cheers!

He didn't look all that good last year with his limited opportunities.
If he doesn't show something in training camp, IMHO, he'll be lucky to make the team.

Cheers!

Kevin had nothing to do with it. You add so many return lines that it confuses people when quoting you.

People that post in this forum are frequently confused, they just display it when they post their comments .

Even I can see where a quote begins and ends . Shrug
