If Aaron Jones gets 40 yards on 13 carries, let's not freak out and call him a bust and everything.

The Vikings have a pretty good defense and have held up well against RB's this season and only have given up 1 rushing touchdown through the first five games.

Week 1
Adrian Peterson 7 for 18 yards
Alvin Kamara 6 for 18 yards
Mark Ingram 6 for 17 yards

Week 2
Le'Veon Bell 27 for 87 yards

Week 3
Jacquizz Rodgers 5 for 15 yards
Charles Sims 2 for 4 yards

Week 4
Ameer Abdullah 20 for 94 yards
Theo Riddick 4 for 4 yards

Week 5
Jordan Howard 19 for 76 yards
Tarik Cohen 6 for 13 yards

Of the teams the Vikes have played, the Bears has he highest rushing offensive rank sitting at 12th. The other 4 are all in the bottom 1/2 in the league.

I'm hoping Rodgers takes advantage of the Vikings 20th ranked pass defense getting us up a few scores so we can pound the ball to kill the clock.

Hopefully the threat of a run game opens up play action as well as opportunities for the TEs to makes some plays.

I would take 27 for 87; 20 for 90 or 19 for 76 outta Jones. A couple of receptions for another 20 would be icing on the cake.

I agree and I was trying to say something similar with the unfair Monty vs Jones comparisons.

Jones did very well against the Cowboys... BUT the Cowboys defense for the most part are ranked a lot worst than the teams Monty was facing (and the OL was the healthiest it's been).

Current (Yards per Game) ranking of these defenses.
Seahawks: 17th in the NFL
Falcons: 10th in the NFL
Bengals: 2nd in the NFL
Bears: 6th in the NFL
Cowboys: 19th in the NFL

So most games the Packers had an injured OL and were facing a top 10 (Yards per game wise) defense... and Monty struggled. The OL gets the healthiest that it has been... and a weakest defense it has faced and Jones explodes.

Mean while the Vikings are ranked as the 7th in the NFL for yards per game, and the best of any team the Packers have faced with running yards per game as well as 4th overall in running yards per rush defense. So the running game could have more trouble than compared to the Cowboys.

Those rushing stats can be skewed by QB and WR yards, long plays and the quantity of rushes:

Here’s how Dallas did handling rushing yards from all other RBs in 2017:

Week 1 Perkins, Darkwa 10-30-0 (3.0 YPC) Long=12
Week 2 Anderson, Charles 34-164-1 (4.8 YPC) Long =28
Week 3 Johnson (12-17-0), Ellington, Williams 18-42-0 (2.3YPC) Long=6
Week 4 Gurley 23-121-0 (5.26YPC) Long=17; Brown 1-0-0
Week 5 Jones 19-125-1 (6.58 YPC) Long =22; Williams 1-1-0; Rip 1-2-0.

This was behind an OL that never played as a unit with a hobbled RT; LG playing LT and a Rookie w/ 2 starts at RT getting his first start at LG. Career wise: the right side played together for 107 snaps; the left side Zero snaps.

Sean Lee is a difference maker. He played 100% of games 1 and 2; 93% game 3; Zilch in weeks 4 and 5

Irving and Hitchens played for 1st time this year v. GB

Regardless of what he does in Minny-Hype away!

He looked good in preseason too, but I'd like to see him establish some consistency at a high level like this.

All I'm saying is don't get down on the kid if he doesn't duplicate the success he had vs Cowboys. The Vikings are more stout vs run than a Sean Lee less Cowboys.

I think we knew what you were saying Zero. At least most of us. No disagreement.

All stats can change if you change enough variables...

But thanks for proving my point EVEN MORE! ThumpUp Looking at your numbers it's even more clear that the Cowboys run defense completely sucks, giving up over 120 yards even ever they face a decent OL. They got to play two of the worst OLs in the NFL, which helps their numbers.

Whoa ...

I think he did better than the stat line shows.
He had positive runs (3yards or more) of 7,6,9,6,3,5,5

For the non-positive runs, two of them were outside stretch runs that were not blocked at all. Two of them were short yardage Dives on short yardage that were not blocked.

considering the majority of them were against a defense that was no longer worried about having Rodgers throwing I am really not disappointed in his performance.

hardrocker950 (4m) : But I put it mostlt on the offense and poor playcalling
hardrocker950 (4m) : I have seen the defense take a lot of flak over the loss..
Cheesey (1h) : Rodgers would have hit open guys. The game plan wouldn't have killed us. Less 3 and outs, and maybe some scores.
beast (1h) : Rodgers wouldn't of abandon attepting to get the ball to Nelson and Adams.
Zero2Cool (2h) : Rodgers with that game plan would have came up short too.
beast (3h) : Yeah the Packers defense got wore out... being on the field so long. Giving longer breathers than 3&out would of helped a lot IMO.
Cheesey (4h) : There wouldn't have been so many 3 and outs, thus keeping our D off the field.
Cheesey (4h) : True, but with the low score we would have had a chance with Rodgers behind center.
Zero2Cool (4h) : Brees is a damn good QB, not giving Capers a pass, not even close.
Zero2Cool (4h) : Saints kicked Packers ass with Rodgers too.
Cheesey (4h) : That's just it. Rodgers needs a DEFENSE as well. And without him, there is NO chance.
beast (5h) : Just fire everyone! Rodgers can do it without them! Hell trade for the healthy Browns players!
Cheesey (7h) : Capers needs to GO. So do players that can't cut it.
Zero2Cool (8h) : Capers presser summed up? INjuries are why we suck. (shut up, coach and adapt)
Zero2Cool (8h) : nearly crapped myself hearing dom capers talk, forgot to close the tab after mccarthy haha
Zero2Cool (8h) : McCarthy said the communication was not good enough on defense yesterday. Injuries in secondary have complicated substitution patterns.
Zero2Cool (8h) : McCarthy again says "I believe in him"... sorry, BS, we saw how you believe in him yesterday.
Zero2Cool (9h) : @The_Green_Gold Highest graded players Kenny Clark & Blake Martinez. It wouldn't be possible to grade an entire defense
Porforis (9h) : Well, it WAS clean until someone 'shouted' in it...
Zero2Cool (9h) : QB Brett Hundley when targeting a WR against Saints: 6-for-15, 54 yards.
Zero2Cool (9h) : clean?
