Hundley talked about not being nervous starting his first game. He said it was just football, no different than practice or playing in a T-giving game with family. This was pure BS, he was using talk to compensate for the fact he was scared crapless. Guys about to play well in their first games will never say stuff like this.

Hundley has been the deer caught in the headlights. He knows this stuff cold; but the collar gets tighter in the bright lights. Having his 1st start at home and 2nd on Monday at home didn’t do Hundley any favors. Some never learn to control the nerves; but his steady improvement from game to game shows the game is slowing for him. Hundley’s general nonchalance was probably misread by the staff a bit as guy who’d be as cool as a cucumber under fire. As it turned out his calm demeanor was concealing mental emotions bouncing off the walls like many GB forum posters after Rodgers went down. There’s only one way to tell what a QB will do under fire in a game or in crunch as opposed to practice, preseason or mop-up duty.

When BH is struggling he’s thinking too much, trying to be too perfect, too Rodgers-like and he’s not trusting the play and/or the route. You cant take a fraction to look to see if a guy is open and then throw the ball, it has to be a non-thinking spontaneous reaction. Against Bears there were 2 outs thrown in first half, where he took a split second to make sure the WR was open and this could have been 2 pick 6s, we were fortunate.

When he can play with an unencumbered mind his talent and ability to play to speed shines; his release is a half beat faster, his feet reset naturally like toward end of Lions game, his 4th Q play today, his TD to Adams, the long 3rd down pass and the TD pass to Monty that was dropped in Minny or NO game [I forget].

Hundley’s late success v. Minnesota was garbage time. But, some unfairly downplay Hundley’s play in 4th Q of Lions game when they identified that as “garbage time;” but nothing could be further from the truth. Garbage time comes when the D plays soft; but the Lions NEVER did this. They played single deep safety and aggressively the ENTIRE time and kept blitzing a lot. The Lions were playing their D and Hundley was having success against it. Hundley knowing the game was over, knowing an INT couldn’t do any further damage was just playing football, to use his words.

There may be a set back or two, but I expect Hundley’s play will continue to become more instinctual; that he’ll trust the receivers and the play and can fire completions to guys with a half step of separation. Then as the game continues to slow down for him he can throw pinpoint balls to guys in certain spots that seem blanketed.

Just gotta get him more opportunities to succeed. More no huddle. More quick throws. If you wanna run, run.

I actually agree with the first 3 paragraphs. That guy was lying his arse off about not being nervous. Perhaps, losing two straight and knowing expectations were lowered to nil really helped him? He was incredible in his first preseason here and has never come close to looking anything like that guy ever again. Perhaps, an issue of no pressure just coming out with chip on his shoulder for being a 5th rounder when he thought he'd go much higher? No pressure in pre-season knowing he was just going to sit behind 12?

Intangibles are everything. I have no doubt this guy was not ready for the pressure and may never be ready for it. He's played his best when the pressure is not there for him.

Now, there are expectations again based on his ability to play well in the 4th quarter at Chicago. Can he manage his emotions and play like he's feeling no pressure? That will be fun to see.

Baltimore isn't exactly a get well defense for QB's nor was Chicago, really. Ravens are gashable right up the gut which just so happens to be what 30 does best. He has no moves...he's just straight line as fast and as hard as he can. Perhaps, that works? Passing on them is going to be a tough task for 7.

Just like Dak Prescott showed yesterday...you aren't very good as a QB when you're under siege unless you're one of the true greats. RT has his work cut out for him.

What's been the anomaly with Hundley? The 4th quarter, yesterday, and his first preseason or all the rest of what he's shown? I honestly think this has to do with the internal pressure he feels. Can't wait to see how he manages himself. Be curious to know if there was someone out there who could count his jaw gyrations in the 4th quarter yesterday and compare them to the ones vs. New Orleans in 1st quarter. I would bet he chomped down on that gum 2 or 3x as much vs. New Orleans.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Maye needs to be AFC
Mucky Tundra (21-Apr) : Not liking the idea of the Vikings getting Maye
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Vikings HC joked that he may or may not have sent flowers to Bob Kraft. That's where rumor came from.

dfosterf (21-Apr) : One playbook to my knowledge. I was shooting for facetious.
beast (20-Apr) : I'm not sure they have different playbooks for different OL positions, and Dillard run blocking is supposedly worse than his pass blocking..
dfosterf (19-Apr) : The only problem with that is he isn't a guard either.
dfosterf (19-Apr) : Put him at right guard. That is where he will be coached. That is where he will compete. He is not even allowed to look at the LT playbook.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Kidding aside, I hope the best for him.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Went to a Titans board. One comment there. Not very long. I quote: "LOL" They don't sound overly upset about our aquisition.
beast (18-Apr) : OT Dillard has been absolutely horrible... like OG Newman levels
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Suit him up and have him stand in front of the big board as a draft day cautionary tale.
Zero2Cool (18-Apr) : Packers sign T Andre Dillard.
Mucky Tundra (18-Apr) : Adds most of the information this time of year comes from agents.

dfosterf (8-Apr) : I say he is better than so many of these draft picks
dfosterf (8-Apr) : Question of the week for me: Has anyone besides me done any deep dive into the potential of Alex McGough, our 3rd string qb?
