WHo cares what they were "drafted for." Hundley was projected into top 15 prior in some online boards prior his final year of college. Can the kid play or not.

I didn't say he has to be Johnny Unitas, I referenced young qbs who showed promise early on in their career. Brett has had AT LEAST 1 full year more with an organization than those 3. I'm not saying Wentz/Prescott/Watson are HOFers, but that's the point, it's more apples-apples.

I got pumped when he had that back shoulder to Jordy v. Minnesota. His pass to Davnate v. the Bears was great. However, a broken clock is still right twice. Are we seeing any consistent evidence that this guy can be an NFL starter, even a serviceable back up?

Sorry, I cannot agree with you here that you comparing two QB's who were drafted to be the franchise leaders (12th and 2nd overall) are anything remotely comparable to someone drafted by an Aaron Rodgers led team in the 5th round. It's like Apples and Sausage to me.

I've watched him play (as you I am sure, not implying you're not) and looked for things to be positive. I looked for better footwork. I looked for quicker decisions. I looked for tighter spirals. I have LOOKED for things to be optimistic about ... the fucker won't give me a god damn thing to be positive about!

--- deep breath ---

Sorry 'bout that. Anyways, young QB's should be told to count to three in your head, if you haven't thrown the ball, you toss it out of bounds or run north and slide. At least that's what I think gives a young QB a chance to get into a rhythm and build confidence and move the chains.

My point about the draft is we shouldn't be evaluating him based on where he was drafted, but whether or not he can play in this league. I don't care where Dmetri Goodson was drafted, does he deserve to be on an NFL roster?

I get Prescott's shine has dulled, but the other two, Russell Wilson...you saw there was something there. Heretofore, I don't see an abundance of reasons to be optimistic about Hundley. Again, that's after 2.5 years. The "give him time" argument loses some of it's effectiveness after that amount of time.

I'm not to the point of calling for Callahan (I haven't been drinking his Kool aid anyway) but I do think we're approaching the point where it's fair to ask if Hundley can cut the mustard.

Wentz and Watson were drafted to carry a franchise.

I'm saying we expect a 5th round stop-gap QB to perform like QB's drafted in the early 1st round. That aside, if your question is Hundley even capable of being a stop gap for a game or two? I think the answer is no. I would say if the the defense was solid, then yes, but the defense played a damn good game yesterday and Hundley threw it away. Literally. Yeah, Ravens aren't some offensive juggernaut, but the point is, defense did their end and Hundley still failed.

I was all on board giving Hundley a chance. I'm off the train now. I've seen no reason to be hopeful for the kid anymore. To be fair, Ravens have a damn good passing defense and were 2nd in NFL in INT's. I posted the stats so this was going to be a hard game for him. I just don't like (what appears to me) is mental mistakes or hesitation. One thing Prescott has over Hundley is decisiveness. Physically I think they are similar if not equal, but between the ears, I think Prescott holds the edge on Hundley.

Watson and Wentz are just completely on a different level than Hundley and I can't even think of them in the same brain cell.

I'm actually still holding onto an ounce of hope for Hundley, though I can't articulate why.

With the draft position, IMO If you were drafted, the expectation should be that you can be an effective player at this level, and where you were drafted really should only affect the length of your leash. Not every 5th rounder should be expected to be a HOFer, but I'm not going to excuse high expectations just because they were drafted lower. That's just a subtle agree to disagree point, though.

I think the bigger thing I'm getting at is if drafted, we should expect you can play in the NFL. 4.5 games as a starter, 2.5 years with the team, and he's not showing squat. Yes, Wentz and Watson were drafted with higher expectations - I bring them up just because they gave you the sense that some potential is there, as raw as it may or may not be. Are we seeing any potential for Hundley to serve any effective role as an NFL player when he's had more time to prepare than them?

This is the problem right here. People comparing Brett Hundley to one of the all time great QB to ever play. Unreal how we set such unattainable expectations and then trash someone.

We act like Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers type QB fall out of trees or something. Let's get freaking real.

I would consider it a success if his TD/INT ratio was greater than 1, especially given his current stats.

Hundley was given an opportunity and he unfortunately blew it. This may be due to a combination of bad luck, bad performance, bad O-line, wide receivers messing up the route, whatever. We will see if Mike McCarthy agrees in the next couple days.

Hundley's problem is that he's bailing on plays. He watched Aaron Rodgers go sandlot all those years, that's what he wants to do.

He doesn't trust the timing and the design of the offense. He isn't anticipating when guys are breaking open, and he's not throwing them open. He hesitates, then bails on the play.

beast (21-Apr) : I haven't looked into the QBs, but some have suggested Maye has some of the most extremely inconsistent tape they've seen
beast (21-Apr) : Well it also sounds like Patriots are listening to trade offers, not that seriously considering any, but listening means they aren't locked
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Maye needs to be AFC
Mucky Tundra (21-Apr) : Not liking the idea of the Vikings getting Maye
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Vikings HC joked that he may or may not have sent flowers to Bob Kraft. That's where rumor came from.
beast (21-Apr) : Can't tell if this is real or BS, but some rumors about a possible Patriots/Vikings trade for #3 overall
dfosterf (21-Apr) : One playbook to my knowledge. I was shooting for facetious.
beast (20-Apr) : I'm not sure they have different playbooks for different OL positions, and Dillard run blocking is supposedly worse than his pass blocking..
dfosterf (19-Apr) : The only problem with that is he isn't a guard either.
dfosterf (19-Apr) : Put him at right guard. That is where he will be coached. That is where he will compete. He is not even allowed to look at the LT playbook.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Kidding aside, I hope the best for him.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Went to a Titans board. One comment there. Not very long. I quote: "LOL" They don't sound overly upset about our aquisition.
beast (18-Apr) : OT Dillard has been absolutely horrible... like OG Newman levels
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Suit him up and have him stand in front of the big board as a draft day cautionary tale.
