When the Chiefs signed CB Darrelle Revis, I thought WTF, why didn't the Packers sign him? At least work him out? We have such a weak secondary with all these injuries why not bring him in?

At worst, he could have been someone to teach the younger CB's some good stuff.

What other CB's are available that could be signed?

For the few million different in salary I would have taken him over bringing House back.

I know there are things in different schemes where not all CB can just go from one team to another and expect the same results. Not sure if there is something in hoe Revis plays that wouldn't fit within Dom's scheme or with the other players around him. but I would not have been against his addition this year. I never expected this to be a Super Bowl year for the team, it was always a development year for the young secondary of the team and Revis might have been good to help them learn.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

I think there is a larger perspective here, where earlier this offseason Revis was saying he's going to retire if the Jets release him, and then he said he's going to retire if his hometown Steelers don't sign him.

So I think it's unfair to compare him with others such as House, because House always said he wanted to play, where Revis was saying he was done playing.

Then when Revis started talking about coming back, he was talking about coming back for the 2018 season and he had a workout where most teams had scouts... and I guess the Chiefs said, you look good, why wait until 2018, finish the season with us this year, especially since we're going to the playoffs (as it looked like the Chiefs were when they signed him, and the Packers didn't look like they would be).

So, yeah they missed an potential opportunity, but I don't think it's fair to compare Revis situation with others FAs, because Revis seemed like he wanted to sit out the year. But yes knowing he wanted back, and knowing King is gonna be hurt for the rest of the year, and House might be gone next year, we should of been looking into Revis (and probably did)... we just weren't the first one to offer him a contract.

Then again, when a player starts talking about retiring, Thompson is probably never going to be one of the first to run out and sign them. But do we know Revis would sign with a team that didn't look like it was going to the playoffs?

When Revis signed, we were aware (fans that is 'we') and thats when I was thinking, WTF, IR Kevin King and sign Revis. I didn't even know he was still available.

But there is also Vontae Davis, who is coming off groin surgery (5 weeks ago), which has been reported to take 6 to 8 weeks to fully heal. But in theory could be ready for the playoffs. Though Davis might be interesting for next year too, and rumored there are teams tracking how he's doing and possibly going to sign him when he's healthy enough to pass a physical.

Davis seemed to be released for saying he's injured and going to get groin surgery for said injury when the Colts were claiming that he's fully healthy (just like they claimed Andrew Luck was going to be fully healthy). But I mean, players don't have surgery just for fun, and I assume especially not in the groin area... so I'm assuming Vontae Davis is correct and that he was injured.

But the Colts (led by their owner) have seemed to be more concerned with trying to sell that their team is doing well and healthy, than being realistic, which is why I've thought the Colts HC might be the mystery head coach that's rumored that wants to move on... away from his drug addict unrealistic owner. Of course he's not successful, like the tweet claimed but still. (You know, if the guy tweeting wasn't talking about the Cards and Saints HC rumors which were already out there well before his tweet).

Other Positions
WR Jared Abbrederis... I missed when the Lions released him.

TE Gary Barnidge... after the team release Bennett, I was surprised they didn't bring in Barnidge, Barnidge is a very good blocking TE that normally doesn't do much in the passing game but some how was able to put up a 1,000 yard receiving year with the Browns while his TE coach was Brian Angelichio, who's currently the Packers TE coach.

TheKanataThrilla (8h) : Anyone hanging out in the chat tonight?
Zero2Cool (9h) : whoa...49ers have had trade conversations about both Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk
Zero2Cool (10h) : I hope they take a Punter at 9th overall. Be bold!
Mucky Tundra (10h) : I may end up eating those words but I think they need a lot more talent then their 4 picks can provide
Mucky Tundra (10h) : I really hope they stand pat and Draft a WR
Mucky Tundra (10h) : @DMRussini
Mucky Tundra (10h) : The Chicago Bears are very open for business at 9 and telling teams they are ready to move for the right price, per source
buckeyepackfan (24-Apr) : Lions extend Penei Soul 4yrs - 112mil
buckeyepackfan (24-Apr) : Lions extend St. Brown 4 years 120mil and
Mucky Tundra (24-Apr) : Now look, trading up to 13 to take a TE might not seem like a good idea later but it will be later!
dfosterf (24-Apr) : (Your trade up mock post)
dfosterf (24-Apr) : Mucky- The only thing fun to watch would be me flipping the f out if Gute goes up to 13 and grabs Brock Bowers, lol

Martha Careful (23-Apr) : IMHO, not even close. He is not a guy you game play around.
Mucky Tundra (23-Apr) : is Aiyuk worth a 1st rounder?
Zero2Cool (23-Apr) : 49ers are seeking a 1st round pick in exchange for WR Brandon Aiyuk
Mucky Tundra (22-Apr) : Based on Gutes comments, now I don't feel as silly having 13 picks in my mock the other day
Zero2Cool (22-Apr) : Zach Wilson to Broncos.
Zero2Cool (22-Apr) : Gutekunst says he'd love to have 13 or 14 picks. He's trading back huh lol
beast (22-Apr) : Someday we'll have a draft betting scandal
beast (21-Apr) : Sometimes looking extremely amazing, sometimes looking extremely lost
beast (21-Apr) : I haven't looked into the QBs, but some have suggested Maye has some of the most extremely inconsistent tape they've seen
beast (21-Apr) : Well it also sounds like Patriots are listening to trade offers, not that seriously considering any, but listening means they aren't locked
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Maye needs to be AFC
Mucky Tundra (21-Apr) : Not liking the idea of the Vikings getting Maye
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Vikings HC joked that he may or may not have sent flowers to Bob Kraft. That's where rumor came from.
beast (21-Apr) : Can't tell if this is real or BS, but some rumors about a possible Patriots/Vikings trade for #3 overall
dfosterf (21-Apr) : One playbook to my knowledge. I was shooting for facetious.
beast (20-Apr) : I'm not sure they have different playbooks for different OL positions, and Dillard run blocking is supposedly worse than his pass blocking..
dfosterf (19-Apr) : The only problem with that is he isn't a guard either.
dfosterf (19-Apr) : Put him at right guard. That is where he will be coached. That is where he will compete. He is not even allowed to look at the LT playbook.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Kidding aside, I hope the best for him.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Went to a Titans board. One comment there. Not very long. I quote: "LOL" They don't sound overly upset about our aquisition.
beast (18-Apr) : OT Dillard has been absolutely horrible... like OG Newman levels
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Suit him up and have him stand in front of the big board as a draft day cautionary tale.
