He runs sort of that hybrid 4-3 & 3-4 right? Would be a good fit for the bulk of our current personnel!

Even though Chargers’ DC Gus Bradley’s contract expired today, Packers have requested permission to interview him for their DC job, per league source.

I feel like this is either old news, that's just now becoming public or it's very strange news. Meaning that there is absolutely no reason to ask for permission as of Tuesday. So I'm guessing this is old news and that the Packers asked to interview him around the same time they asked to interview the Bears and Lions DC and the Packers got turned down on all of them because they were currently under contract.

But now Bradley and Fangio can talk with any team, as they're free agents.

I'd be happy with either. Bring Casey Hayward back with him.

He's running zone with Hayward, but I believe he was also part of the Jags that signed House to his huge contract to run man coverage. So I'm wondering what he would run in GB.

Hayward has played primarily man coverage in SD.

Are you sure? Because Gus Bradley said he was going to mainly play zone coverage (I don't see the article, but I know I read it, after he got hired) and he's very well known for running Cover Three Zone Defense as defensive coordinator (which sometimes looks like man coverage but it's not). Of course I'm sure he mixed in some man coverage but I thought that was manly as a change up to surprise and catch offenses off guard.

Three times the Chargers were in prime position to select a player to fit Bradley's cover-3 defense, and three times the Chargers picked offensive players.

And Bradley seemed to be suggesting Hayward played press man coverage last year, while asking him to do now is different.

But not only has Hayward been good in coverage, he’s also been a willing tackler in the running game, according to Bradley.

“It is a different system as far as what we’re asking him to do,” Bradley said. “Now, he played press [man coverage] last year, so there’s some similarities. But play in and play out what we’re asking him to do [is different]. I think he’s done a good job. The corners have done a good job on the perimeter, knock on wood that’s got to keep going.

In the Cover Three ... the CBs play the verticals, making sure no one gets deeper than them on the outside third of the field... but in the Seahawks/Bradley system, they would often start with pressing the WRs before dropping... but the different is they don't follow a guy a guy on crossing routes... unless it's crossing into their zone.

Maybe Bradley is running it different. I just remember when Hayward first went to SD people kept saying he was having a good season because he was "just a zone CB" when that season SD wasn't playing much zone at all.

Nonstopdrivel (23h) : Didn't he used to play quarterback in this league?
Zero2Cool (19-Oct) : Cardinals told their coaches this morning that OC Mike McCoy has been fired. QBs coach Byron Leftwich is the new coordinator.
Zero2Cool (19-Oct) : Someone take screen shot of NFL picks leader board. I won't be this close to #1 ever again!!
gbguy20 (19-Oct) : i know. no point in firing mike now anyway, we're just a few weeks away from the time of year where he normally figures his shit out
beast (18-Oct) : When Mike Pettine had a shot, he did grab the (now) 49ers head coach to be his (then) OC, I wonder who Pettine would hire now.
beast (18-Oct) : A couple of years ago, was a great time to find a good young offensive mind... but they're been largely taken up... I so would of hired the 49ers or Rams head coaches.
Zero2Cool (18-Oct) : We aren't the Penguins, we can't fire the head guy, then win the championship.
Zero2Cool (18-Oct) : i don't think the Packers ever function like that
gbguy20 (18-Oct) : if we fire MM now his replacement would have the bye week to get acquainted with his new position.
Zero2Cool (18-Oct) : I had high hopes for Brewers. I'm thinking Red Sox are my only World Series chance now.

gbguy20 (17-Oct) : i really enjoyed him in the broadcast booth. aside from the whole turkey hole thing...
Nonstopdrivel (17-Oct) : Youtube appears to be down.
Nonstopdrivel (16-Oct) : Gruden can ruin as many players as he pleases, so long as he stays out of the broadcast booth.
gbguy20 (16-Oct) : You are correct kevin. Abandon (the raiders) ship
Zero2Cool (16-Oct) : It's the Raiders, I just assume everything is ruined since Gruden.
Mucky Tundra (16-Oct) : How did they ruin him? Curious since I see articles about the Raiders potentially shopping him
Zero2Cool (16-Oct) : Amari is garbage now. Raiders ruined him.
