Kevin King, IMO, will be Green Bay's 2018 Breakout player. This sophomore will step up and excel as one of GB's starting Cornerbacks. It's time for him to start earning his "next" contract.

I also see Josh Jones stepping up to join HaHa Clinton-Dix at Safety. That leaves one starting CB position to fill. I hope that BG gets a good one in FA or through the Draft.

If you have a player that might be an emerging talent, post your pick here.

[cheers]

All of them. Superbowl.

Hmm. I'll say Reggie Gilbert shocks the world! Which probably means he'll end up getting cut...

I think the 2 guys you listed are the guys we are all hoping will breakout, because if they don't we are really freaking screwed. At this moment in time at least, it sure looks like these guys are going to be the number ones at their positions. Jones definitely showed flashes last year, but at this point he looks very boom or bust. If we don't resign or replace Burnett then Josh is the guy. If he doesn't consistently step it up then we're screwed. King did absolutely nothing to show he could be our CB1 last season, despite what many on this forum have said. If he doesn't step up, again we're screwed. I'd really like a young wr to breakout.

If they don't sign a SS in FA (which I think they will) then I think Brice might be the starting SS and Jones being the starting dime DB (and who knows... maybe nickel too, if they don't improve the CBs).

Smokey I don't mean to make this sound like a criticism but I sure like it better when you start a new thread by asking a question and then include your opinion instead of just the question alone. 👍

My breakout candidate is:

1. Whoever they take @ #14 in the draft is going to make a major contribution.
2. The tandem of Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams will combine for 1500 yards and 16 TDs.
3. With the addition of Wilkerson along with healthy Daniels and Perry, Kenny Clark will be an animal this year.

Or swap that name with Ty Montgomery, though at this point I would rather Aaron break out at RB and Ty breakout as WR. I am super excited about our Dline. We also need to finally get an impact player with our first pick, it has been a while. I don't care what position.

I'm not sure if it will be this year, but if used properly I think OLB Fackrell could brake out... Fackrell needs a good mixture of both coverage and surprise blitzes... and the new DC said he was going to use the OLBers in coverage a lot more.

I do think OT Murphy, DT Adams, and OLB Biegel could have a breakout.

Murphy might get a shot at starting on the right side... and if he kept improving he might be good. And if a young guy starts at RG, they might be a breakout... weather it's Murphy, McCray or Patrick.

Adams and Biegel both missed training camp (and DTs usually suck as rookies) and flashed some potential still. I'm thinking we'll see more defense sets with 3 DL on the feild, giving Adams more chances to rotate in and become a pass rush specialist. While Biegel is very versatile and will be used in all kinds of ways in a more creative defense.

Also whomever the 3rd WR will probably be the media break out as they'll be getting a lot more playing time and attention.

What about Rollins? If they move him to hos natural position of S, it might do wonders for him.

To me it wouldn’t be a shock if King “broke out,” I thought he looked tough, considering he was playing one handed. Definitely seemed like he wanted to play well, and was studious in his approach to the game.

Kenny Clark broke out last year. Maybe Montravius will take a step this year. No one thinks he will though. We shall see.

How about a guy like Trevor Davis? We could use a perimeter guy with some speed. Or Michael Clark, will he be a WR or TE? Don’t worry I won’t mention Kizer lol

This thread I hoped that by flatley stating from the start which player I believe will have a breakout season, Kevin King, that it would encourage others to be bold as well. Some have followed my lead, while others have continued to be non-exclusive with their post.

We all hope that GB's draft choices will help the Packers be successful. This thread ask for a specific player that you feel will raise their level of play in 2018 and be the Packers new shining star.

No where does it say "an emerging talent" must be exclusive, which is even more confusing since the very first post is not held exclusive to a single player, and last year's emerging talents were not exclusive.

I was non-exclusive, talking about a number of "emerging talent" like the thread asked for. If you want to talk about new shining star, that's a completely different subject, as it basically eliminates young linemen, like Martinez has gotten more shine than Clark, and no OL has a shot to shine brighter than the WRs.

The new shining star is Jimmy Graham or the new #3 WR (who ever steps up there). Maybe WR Clarke or Allison? But shining stars is different than breakout or emerging talents.

Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Yeah, challenge until you are incorrect twice.
Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Fining them is the goal, per the people who made the rule anyway.
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Still waiting on the kickoff rule changes. Did hear yesterday that the touchback proposal will now be the 30 yard line, not the 35
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Probably speed of game issues with your proposal
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Hopefully the refs don't get in the habit of throwing flags on this
beast (25-Mar) : I think when it comes to Challenges should get two strikes, so unlimited challenges as long as they keep winning them, but 2 wrong then done
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Still subject to the fines etc
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Yes, I should have been more specific. Also, they are now saying it would be a 15 yard penalty. That makes more sense .
