Porforis, have you first tried just walking the 5k with someone trailing you in a car just in case. It might be that after 2 or 3k that ligament could be telling you to stop. Be careful please, play it smart.

I can’t run. Getting hit by a car in 2013 screwed up my right knee and hip. But I walk as I can.

Exercise should be a part of a healthy diet plan. However, if like me you have COPD then just taking the next breath is sometimes a challenge. I wish I could just walk 20 feet without being out of breath. It makes diet more important than ever for me.

That’s why I try to walk as much as I can. I have asthma, and in the winter I have trouble breathing in the cold air.

Just keep as active as you can. Much of it is mental too. Trying to be active and not giving up.
I have been staying from 179 to 183 pounds. Being as it is FINALLY going to get warm enough to do things outside, I feel pretty good about not gaining a bunch of weight over the winter.

For the most part I think it's cartilage inflamed, ligaments are more or less back to normal. Same knee I messed up like 8 years ago that was screwed up for like a year (although I didn't take care of it at the time which really hurt things) I fully intend to not push it too hard and will adjust my plan based on how I'm feeling in ~ a month or so. While I really want to complete the 5K, I also don't want my knee screwed up long-term. There's always next year.

Shitty part is that it was feeling great/perfectly fine a few weeks back but then I spent 3 days straight on my feet with a friend in boston and I feel like that set me back a month or so. But again, lessons learned to not push myself too hard.

Do you use a face mask in winter? Helps a lot with retaining heat, especially with cold air.

I wear one of my son's Army face masks when I go for a walk.

It offers a lot of flexibility. When it's a little warmer I keep it down around my neck. When it's very cold I pull the back of it up over the back of my head and the front over my mouth and sometimes my nose. I have to make sure it doesn't steam up my glasses.

Yes, I keep my face covered . That DOES help, but not completely.
I’m not letting it stop me!
Giving up is not an option!Laugh

5k actually went great, it was today. I've been battling respiratory infections on and off for months (Yes, seeing doctor) but luckily I was doing great today, knee was feeling fine, calves were a little sore but I managed to do the whole thing beating my target goal of 35 minutes - It was actually more like 4.6k but extrapolating to 5k based on my pace for the rest of it, it would have been just under 34 minutes. I kept to the grass as much as possible and it helped a lot with my knee - I think I just need to stop jogging on concrete unless I can't avoid it.

Porforis,
have you ever tried oil of oregeno. you place acouple of drops under your tongue. it boosts the hell out of your immune system. https://www.organicfacts...egano-essential-oil.html
it has worked for me, and my very bright licensed dietitian daughter swears by it.

The only problem with it is, it tastes horrible. if you can stand it for 10-15 seconds, wash it down with root beer or perhaps whisky. Milk does not work. For me, my wife and family, oil of oregano works very well...

Congrats on the race!!!

Pack93z (20-Jul) : Why did Revis fall off so sudden? Personally, because he only relied on physical tools he had... short area burst to close and speed. Once gone... he was toast.
gbguy20 (20-Jul) : how has harris been doing as a coach? I've always wanted him or chuck to come back to coach ehre
Zero2Cool (20-Jul) : Revis mastered crazy closing speed and holding lol. Dunno, maybe he can coach. I don't think so.
beast (19-Jul) : Harris has been coaching with the Chiefs since 2013... Andy Reid seems to like hiring former players. He's also the one that got Doug Pederson into NFL coaching.
gbguy20 (19-Jul) : Harris is coaching??? Why the he'll isn't he doing it here
beast (19-Jul) : In some aspects, I completely agree with you. BUT Revis also mastered the jam at the line, which he learned. Just like some guy named Al Harris who is currently a coach in the NFL.
Zero2Cool (18-Jul) : Revis was a freak talent, he can't teach that. Same reason why Jordan can't coach. (jus my opinion)
beast (18-Jul) : Wonder if Revis might be interested in helping teaching in Pettine's system
Zero2Cool (18-Jul) : Darrelle Revis has announced he is officially retiring from the NFL.
Zero2Cool (16-Jul) : Today's Birthdays: maverickpcrepair (39) , n0j0ke (49)

Nonstopdrivel (14-Jul) : Delete that porn stash -- or at least that porn 'stache -- and you'll be all right, Alan.
Cheesey (12-Jul) : Uh oh....I better change my password on my luggage....
nerdmann (11-Jul) : Whenever some security BS forces me to change my password, it usually ends up being a string of expletives.
Zero2Cool (11-Jul) : 12345
Porforis (11-Jul) : It sounds like the kind of password an idiot would use on his luggage!
Cheesey (10-Jul) : Well, just change your password to “idontremember” and that will solve your problem! LOL!
KRK (10-Jul) : i would have to ask Z2C for an exact number....I am sure it more than 4 times over the last 6 months!!!
Cheesey (10-Jul) : KRK, are you sure? Maybe you forgot it more then 3 times, but don’t remember it! LOL!
gbguy20 (10-Jul) : in cap space left
gbguy20 (10-Jul) : Packers 15th in the league with 10.8mmm
KRK (10-Jul) : Thanks for birthday wishes...senility is setting in as I have forgotten my password 3 times in the last month!
