It might be funny to a terrorist!🤣

Anyway, the point I was making was that it seemed to be a “free speech” issue to some.
Thus my bringing up the joke thing.
I’m polish, and laugh at polish jokes.
Some take things too seriously.

But trying to be funny about explosives in an airport shoes very poor judgement in my view.

I think this is a great conversation, one that many groups would get offended and not able to have.

Where the analogy about racist jokes breaks down is that nobody gets arrested and has their freedom taken away for telling racist jokes.

I don't think it's right that someone is arrested for what they said, when it clearly was not a threat to others, fraud, etc...

I agree that common sense says the airport might not be the best place for that joke.

And even though it is completely irrelevant, I think the joke was funny - I could easily see myself (under my breath, for my wife's ears only) saying the exact same sarcastic thing.

I don’t know.... the “political correctness” police make it a big deal if someone tells a joke that even ONE person gets offended by, and they throw hissy fits and make life miserable for the “offenders”.
In today’s world you have to walk on eggshells for fear you might offend someone.

I'm not sure what you're referring to, or why we're going down this path. That said though, yes, we (PACKERSHOME) are able to make racist jokes, polish jokes, short people jokes, tall people jokes, Irish jokes, Black jokes, or whatever. We have a section called The Back Alley just for this stuff so we do NOT muddy up the PACKERS TALK section.

In fact, YOU have posted in a thread containing such jokes. Click here .

Every comedian or person who knows how to tell a good joke knows delivery and timing is everything. And like in real estate, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! We all pretty well know it's not wise to make bomb jokes in an airport. This joke lacked timing and proper location. Trevor Davis should have shared his joke on PACKERSHOME in The Back Alley section.

We must laugh. We must smile and we must not take ourselves too seriously. Life is too short, too fragile.

Did his comment show poor judgement? Perhaps but only in the sense that in today's era of heightened sensitivity about such things he should have been aware of the sort of reaction it would have gotten. On the other hand I'm sure that is why he said it.

To me its a huge non-issue and truthfully the way I imagine it going down (the comment not the subsequent over reaction) is kind of funny. Being arrested was an extreme over reaction IMO but I do agree that some sort of intervention was needed. Pulling them aside, perhaps even taking them into a room for some questions sure but arresting him...? I would be very surprised if charges were pursued in this case. If more comes out about him resisting or becoming uncooperative then I might change my mind but from all I read nothing of the sort happened.

Anyone making claims that this is akin to racist jokes is simply looking for a way to justify making this out to be something way more than it is. If there is any sort of retaliatory action taken against TD (by law enforcement, the team, the league etc.) I will be very disappointed. Hopefully McCarthy takes him aside and simply says "you know that kind of thing is kind of embarrassing to us and we don't really need the distraction. I know you've learned your lesson so now get your ass out there on the field and score some touchdowns" and that's the last we will hear of it. Except for the vikings fans of course who will continue to make their claims that it is further proof that the Green Bay Packers are a haven for thugs, deviants and degenerates. That's OK though we can laugh at them too ... or is that insensitive?
