What are your thoughts on this?

Crucial veteran additions: TE Jimmy Graham, QB DeShone Kizer, DT Muhammad Wilkerson, DB Tramon Williams, TE Marcedes Lewis

Crucial veteran losses: WR Jordy Nelson, S Morgan Burnett, LB Joe Thomas

What improved?
Tight ends. Last season, Martellus Bennett was brought in to replace Jared Cook—who departed for Oakland in the 2017 free agency—as the athletic, pass-catching tight end in Mike McCarthy’s offense, but played just seven games last season before ultimately retiring. Green Bay signed two veterans, Jimmy Graham, who will be that athletic, No. 1 tight end; and Marcedes Lewis, who is a great blocking tight end.

What needs work?
Green Bay signaled their most important area for improvement in their top two draft picks—cornerback Jaire Alexander in the first round and cornerback Josh Jackson in the second. By drafting two highly-touted cornerback prospects, there’s a better chance that one of them will pan out. Green Bay also signed veterans Tramon Williams and Davon House to round out the depth in the secondary. This is an area the Packers have to get right if they want to maximize Aaron Rodgers’s championship window.

What can we expect?
A healthy Aaron Rodgers with a new weapon in Jimmy Graham should lead the Packers return to their usual playoff berth.

Fact/tidbit/piece of news learned from OTAs/minicamps
Last season, running back Ty Montgomery played just eight games and was placed on injured reserve after struggling with rib and wrist injuries. In his absence, rookie running backs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams emerged as viable options, so much that by the end of the season, it looked like Montgomery could be phased out of the Packers plans on offense. Per offseason practice reports, Montgomery was frequently used in no-huddle and two-minute drills, and head coach Mike McCarthy told ESPN’s Rob Demovsky that he plans to handle running back by committee this season, until someone proves themselves to be the full-time guy. That could still be Montgomery.

GRADE: B

If the additions to the secondary pan out, this Green Bay defense will be able to support Rodgers’s dominance.

I sincerely doubt Montgomery will ever be a full time running back, for anyone!

I agree, Yooper! But if he is used right, he could be a great addition with Aaron Rodgers as QB.

The problem I have with RBs by committee is, if you don’t mix it up to throw off the D, as in “Montgomery is in, so they are going to pass”, they will stack the D for that kind of play.
So you have to run sometimes in that formation to keep them honest. Or throw a screen to Monty.

Montgomery has to be the #3 (actually #2) WR. His function as an RB is primarily to diagnose coverages.

This is why Goot hasn’t made an offer to Dez or any of these other guys. We’re covered there.

Ty would make a great third down back, but can he pass protect?

He was up and down the last two years if I recall correctly. I believe in 2016 He was rated fairly high given his mid season switch, but I think he lost some playing time last year prior to injuries because he wasn't quite getting it done in Pass pro.

I can see GB grading out as a B for their off season moves. That is of course contingent on most of the moves working out. It drops to a C if only half of them do.

I see the off season as a positive, if, as WPR says, they pan out.
Of course any move can make you look smart, or blow up in your face!

Pack93z (20-Jul) : Why did Revis fall off so sudden? Personally, because he only relied on physical tools he had... short area burst to close and speed. Once gone... he was toast.
gbguy20 (20-Jul) : how has harris been doing as a coach? I've always wanted him or chuck to come back to coach ehre
Zero2Cool (20-Jul) : Revis mastered crazy closing speed and holding lol. Dunno, maybe he can coach. I don't think so.
beast (19-Jul) : Harris has been coaching with the Chiefs since 2013... Andy Reid seems to like hiring former players. He's also the one that got Doug Pederson into NFL coaching.
gbguy20 (19-Jul) : Harris is coaching??? Why the he'll isn't he doing it here
beast (19-Jul) : In some aspects, I completely agree with you. BUT Revis also mastered the jam at the line, which he learned. Just like some guy named Al Harris who is currently a coach in the NFL.
Zero2Cool (18-Jul) : Revis was a freak talent, he can't teach that. Same reason why Jordan can't coach. (jus my opinion)
beast (18-Jul) : Wonder if Revis might be interested in helping teaching in Pettine's system
Zero2Cool (18-Jul) : Darrelle Revis has announced he is officially retiring from the NFL.
