Who needs receivers? The Green Bay Packers! It now appears that a receiver they had been connected to via trade is indeed available. The Pittsburgh Steelers' Martavis Bryant is there for the taking if they want him.

We should make a serious offer to Martavis and/or Dez. I love Davante, but we don’t protect him. I would hate to see him miss significant time, but if he did, Ty Montgomery would be our #1.

I like Ty, but he’s not getting reps on the perimeter anymore. Dude is preparing his body and mind as a RB. A rookie would take two years to get ready.

If we were to take a chance trading for a guy with a problem staying clean I would go Josh Gordon as that guy is flat out awesome when on the field.

Yeah, I've never liked trading away draft picks, just for the right to give a guy a raise.... it's like being forced to pay twice, especially when you could just wait a year and pay once.

I loved the guy before his suspension, haven't seen him play since. I'd take him if he is the same player.

5th round pick, sure. More than that, no.

Maybe we will trade whatever we got from the Saints for moving down in the draft.

Traded to the raiders for #76 in the draft.

Shows what I know.

The Steelers have traded Bryant to the Raiders for the No. 79 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Pittsburgh announced Thursday night.

I am curious how this works with Jordy Nelson.

They have Amari Cooper too. They can have Cooper and Bryant run deep and intermediate routes and have Nelson catch passes from the slot. Jared Cook is there too.

Carr has quite the arsenal.

I understand your point, but the recent trade is why a team would make a move like this. Otherwise, they may never have a shot at the player. There is always some team willing to crazy overspend in free agency, or a player may never consider a certain team or market when they are an unrestricted free agent. Now they secured a potentially very good WR without having to further compete with any team. As long as they expect to resign him, it could work out. Worse case scenario, they could tag him for a year.

I'm not saying I agree with this particular move, but there are obviously some benefits, especially if a team has a critical need and is ready to win now. Let's say if the Packers made this trade, and Bryant was a key cog in helping the Packers win another Super Bowl, it would have been well worth it, even if he departed the following year. A team could also get a decent compensatory pick in that scenario anyway, further minimizing the damage.

Hmm never have a shot at a disgruntled employee who got suspended for a year and then demanded to be traded because he couldn't get the ball as often as he wanted... Hmm

Also one case of being caught from another year long suspension... I think I'm alright with never having a shot at him.

Also Raiders are now trying to trade WR Seth Roberts

Also you have to worry about how they're going to handle the new playbook and environment.

Sounds like the Raiders are getting pretty frustrated that Martavis Bryant is struggling with the playbook, after trading a 3rd round pick for him. Meanwhile they seem to love Nelson.

Profootballtalk via James Jones said:
“I just had a chance to speak with Coach Olson and he said talent-wise, there’s probably nobody that can compete with [Bryant] talent-wise,” Jones said. “But they said he’s not picking up the playbook, and that’s the reason of a little frustration right now because they want to get him on the field but he’s not able to grasp the playbook yet.”

Jones said Bryant can’t move around the way receivers usually do because the Raiders are trying to simplify Bryant’s learning process by having him line up in the same place on every play.

“They’ve only got him lining up in one spot to try to slow it down and help him out,” Jones said. “They need him to pick it up.”

Jones’ comments echo those of Raiders head coach Jon Gruden, who said Bryant needs to play better and master the offense. The Raiders traded a third-round draft pick for Bryant, and so far he doesn’t seem to be performing the way they were expecting.

Zero2Cool (7h) : Not true. Just use bilasport.net
nerdmann (7h) : gonna do that dhazer, thanks for the heads up
dhazer (7h) : buy a firestick or android tv box and install Kodi and you can watch all pay per views, sports and movies you want
gbguy20 (8h) : Packers vs bears not on tv in the twin cities market....first game all year. Damnit.
nerdmann (8h) : Look for a TE in the draft. Keeo Jimmy/Mercedes/Tonyan or some permutation thereof until the new kid develops.
gbguy20 (9h) : jealous.
dhazer (9h) : Man I love using Kodi i just realized I get the football games on it for free
Mucky Tundra (10h) : Or are you talking about Jermaine Gresham? He's 30 years old atm
Mucky Tundra (10h) : Tyler Eifert would be his name and he suffered a REALLY bad injury this year
gbguy20 (13h) : yeah why not bring in another guy who can't stay on the field?
Zero2Cool (13h) : The guy from the Bengals? The TE who's alway hurt??
KRK (15h) : Yup..he's gone...they should sign the guy from Bengals at half the cost
gbguy20 (17h) : correct
TheKanataThrilla (17h) : Hasn't really opened the middle of the field either. He is basically another WR and if one uses those stats he has had a terrible season for the price paid.
Cheesey (17h) : The busted thumb didn’t help. I’d have him back only at a reduced rate. But I’m sure he wouldn’t go for that.
Cheesey (17h) : Graham hasn’t been “great” this year, only fair.
Zero2Cool (20h) : Graham is far better than 85. When both thumbs are not broken. Who ever said Rouse was better than Collins?? Never heard it.
gbguy20 (15-Dec) : no one said tonyan is better than graham but it sure seems the general consensus is beginning to lean toward cutting graham rather than paying him another 10 million
beast (15-Dec) : I like Tonyan, but this nonsense (that's growing though out Packers fans) that Tonyan is better than Graham is just like the nonsense about Aaron Rouse being better than Nick Collins in 2007...
beast (15-Dec) : Tonyan got down field once when the OL COMPLETELY OWNED the DL on one play and Rodgers and ALL DAY to hold the ball!
Zero2Cool (15-Dec) : is Tonyan faster? I'd be good cutting Graham and using Tonyan more. I've seen him stretch the field. Graham with busted thumb = terrible
gbguy20 (15-Dec) : can't say there would be much difference, aside from tonyan being way faster
nerdmann (15-Dec) : You gonna go with Tonyan?
gbguy20 (15-Dec) : the dude needs to go after this year
nerdmann (15-Dec) : Bring him back until you develop a guy. That takes a year or two.
nerdmann (15-Dec) : I look at Graham as Chmura, without the blocking.
nerdmann (15-Dec) : Dude was on pace for the all time production record for TEs, broke his damn thumb.
nerdmann (15-Dec) : 46 receptions isn't bad.
packerfanoutwest (15-Dec) : many free agents don't want to play in GB,,,and you know why. Graham played for the money
Nonstopdrivel (14-Dec) : Graham has 46 receptions on 77 targets.
Zero2Cool (14-Dec) : Graham should sit until his broken thumb is better.
gbguy20 (14-Dec) : careful rabidgopher, half the forum will attack you if you say that here.
rabidgopher04 (14-Dec) : Jimmy Graham rarely catches the ball when it comes his way.
Zero2Cool (14-Dec) : Graham: 'My numbers suck' in Green Bay
Zero2Cool (14-Dec) : @NicholasJOlson Stefon Diggs currently has 88 catches without a single drop.
