Hey guys I didn't catch the game but I was wondering what the initial impression of the defense was?

First off, Williams, King, Alexander and maybe House didn't play... so outside of Jackson, guys that might be fighting for the last CB spot played... and at times they clearly struggled at CB. A number of people were unhappy with Rollins especially. Though Jackson looked pretty good, outside a very weak holding call by the ref.

I think other top players like Clark, Daniels and Wilkerson also sat and didn't even put pads on.

The defense looked fairly vanilla... like I think they kept it very simply to evaluate players ... I don't think we saw Pettine's scheme tonight. It was only a single player, but rookie draft pick, OLB Kendall Donnerson beat his guy and forced a fumble on a running play which impressed me.

Some said the best part was after giving up a very long drive, and failing to stop them on 4th down... that they finally pulled it together and stopped them on the 5 yard line. It was 1st and goal on the 5 and they forced the field goal.

0 scheme and only like 4 preferred starters so not really much to evaluate as far as "the defense" some individuals really stood out like Josh Jackson, Reggie Gilbert, Montravius Adams and Oren Burks showed some good stuff too.

Not worried about the defense until week 1. That's when we'll see Pettine's scheme.

Not much to see at this point.
Gilbert looked pretty good.
Burks is really fast.
Josh Jones left the field for concussion evaluation.
Rollins looked pretty bad, I doubt he makes the team.
Probably won't be until the 3rd preseason game that we see what our real defense looks like.

Rollins went for the INT on thhe first drive, didn’t get it. Ended up keeping that drive alive by giving up a big play. Other than that, I thouht he was ok.

Donnerson forced a fumble, which Biegel recovered. Other than that, I didn’t notice Biegel was out there.

I don't think you can ever gauge a defense in the pre-season. You can probably gauge individual's a little better than the overall defense. All I am hoping to see (no injuries of course) is solid tackling. Everything else during these next three games I couldn't give a rats ass about.

Individually, there were too many missed tackles and long runs allowed.
And THAT I give a rodents rectum about! LOL

It's looking like the first preseason game.

Browns 4-0 in preseason last year.
Enough said.

Packers played base defense pretty much the whole game.
Come regular season, they will play base less than 20% of the time.

First game all about getting film on individuals, chance to correct mistakes.

Score really doesn't matter, but I came away from the game thinking The Packers bottom 50 were much better than The Titans.

Watched parts of other games and could tell The Packers as a whole are ahead of any team I saw.

No major injuries!!!

Success!

If anything, I saw a lot to be optimistic for on defense. Burks... wow.

He's a year away. Martinez needed a year too. HOpefully that's all that's wrong with Josh Jones.

I was disappointed in Biegel. For most of the game, I thought he was at the hospital having a baby, but then he recovered a fumble forced by Donnerson in the 3rd (or 4th). I mean yeah, maybe Pettine can scheme him open, but I'd still like to see him get home, just by straight up beating his guy.

You just don't get it. Biegel sucks, and always will suck. Lost cause just like Fuckrail.

Fackrell's not bad. He's just not great. Maybe he'll take another step.

I was surprised when he got on the field too. Maybe the baby was born early enough in the day for him to suit up?

Zero2Cool (5h) : Not true. Just use bilasport.net
nerdmann (5h) : gonna do that dhazer, thanks for the heads up
dhazer (6h) : buy a firestick or android tv box and install Kodi and you can watch all pay per views, sports and movies you want
gbguy20 (6h) : Packers vs bears not on tv in the twin cities market....first game all year. Damnit.
nerdmann (6h) : Look for a TE in the draft. Keeo Jimmy/Mercedes/Tonyan or some permutation thereof until the new kid develops.
gbguy20 (7h) : jealous.
dhazer (7h) : Man I love using Kodi i just realized I get the football games on it for free
Mucky Tundra (9h) : Or are you talking about Jermaine Gresham? He's 30 years old atm
Mucky Tundra (9h) : Tyler Eifert would be his name and he suffered a REALLY bad injury this year
gbguy20 (11h) : yeah why not bring in another guy who can't stay on the field?
Zero2Cool (12h) : The guy from the Bengals? The TE who's alway hurt??
KRK (14h) : Yup..he's gone...they should sign the guy from Bengals at half the cost
gbguy20 (15h) : correct
TheKanataThrilla (15h) : Hasn't really opened the middle of the field either. He is basically another WR and if one uses those stats he has had a terrible season for the price paid.
Cheesey (15h) : The busted thumb didn’t help. I’d have him back only at a reduced rate. But I’m sure he wouldn’t go for that.
Cheesey (15h) : Graham hasn’t been “great” this year, only fair.
Zero2Cool (18h) : Graham is far better than 85. When both thumbs are not broken. Who ever said Rouse was better than Collins?? Never heard it.
gbguy20 (15-Dec) : no one said tonyan is better than graham but it sure seems the general consensus is beginning to lean toward cutting graham rather than paying him another 10 million
beast (15-Dec) : I like Tonyan, but this nonsense (that's growing though out Packers fans) that Tonyan is better than Graham is just like the nonsense about Aaron Rouse being better than Nick Collins in 2007...
beast (15-Dec) : Tonyan got down field once when the OL COMPLETELY OWNED the DL on one play and Rodgers and ALL DAY to hold the ball!
Zero2Cool (15-Dec) : is Tonyan faster? I'd be good cutting Graham and using Tonyan more. I've seen him stretch the field. Graham with busted thumb = terrible
gbguy20 (15-Dec) : can't say there would be much difference, aside from tonyan being way faster
nerdmann (15-Dec) : You gonna go with Tonyan?
gbguy20 (15-Dec) : the dude needs to go after this year
nerdmann (15-Dec) : Bring him back until you develop a guy. That takes a year or two.
nerdmann (15-Dec) : I look at Graham as Chmura, without the blocking.
nerdmann (15-Dec) : Dude was on pace for the all time production record for TEs, broke his damn thumb.
nerdmann (15-Dec) : 46 receptions isn't bad.
packerfanoutwest (15-Dec) : many free agents don't want to play in GB,,,and you know why. Graham played for the money
Nonstopdrivel (14-Dec) : Graham has 46 receptions on 77 targets.
Zero2Cool (14-Dec) : Graham should sit until his broken thumb is better.
gbguy20 (14-Dec) : careful rabidgopher, half the forum will attack you if you say that here.
rabidgopher04 (14-Dec) : Jimmy Graham rarely catches the ball when it comes his way.
Zero2Cool (14-Dec) : Graham: 'My numbers suck' in Green Bay
Zero2Cool (14-Dec) : @NicholasJOlson Stefon Diggs currently has 88 catches without a single drop.
