Happy New Year

A happy new year, lets resolve to eat better as we also give more care to better nutrition.

The Super Bowl will be here before we know it, so let's try to help make those parties special and tasty.
While many serve "Delivery" Pizza, which is fine, others create a theme and serve a special fare. I can think of a few good party themes, can you ?

Tex-Mex
Cheese/Meat Trays
Create your own Chef Salad
Dogs and Burgers

What creative Ideas can you share ? Cheers!

This doesn't sound or look good, but it is really tasty and perfect finger food for playoff and Super Bowl Parties: Its regrettably called "Dog Food" as that is what it looks like. One you make it, it will be a staple for all Parties, and an idiot can make it:
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb of Ground Beef
  • 1 Large Tube of Tennessee Pride (Or Other) HOT Sausage
  • One Half Block of Velveeta Cheese
  • Cocktail Rye Bread (the little squares

Steps:
  • Cook Up the Ground Beef and Pork Sausage
  • Drain Grease
  • Add the 1/2 Block of Velveeta Cheese
  • Cook up till cheese is thoroughly mixed in
  • Put a spoonful of cooked stuff on a the rye squares
  • Place Rye Square onto Cookie Sheet
  • Broil until you begin to get a small crisp (dark brown) layer on top of mix

Your guests will love it. Any you can make it in batches so you don't have to make it all at once

Great idea KRK !

Had an Aunt that used to make Sausage Puffs for their Grand Christmas Party. They were special too.
I also like the Crock Pot Meatballs in a thick Marinara Sauce.
I know one Gentleman that make a "Killer" 7 layer Tex-Mex Dip, non better with Tortilla Chips. Yumm !

Know a good Chili Recipe ?

Cheers!

You do go all-out on every sunday, Smokey. That's pretty cool. Most of it sounds delicious, as well. Do you prepare everything yourself?

The only thing I'd change up from time to time is that Miller water you're drinking, but I guess you can't argue about taste. Zipping Mouth

In my life, Sunday has always held a select place. Special meals regularly occur that don't generally happen the rest of the week. Also, gatherings of friends/family have become a Sunday tradition too.
This week at Joe and Wendy's, the next week at Uncle Bill's, etc.

What may seem like a lot of food, serves very well for meals during the upcoming week. Cooking is not that difficult for me because I enjoy it. Heating up some premium Bar-B-Que and heating up some Baked Beans is not that difficult. Some meals require more involved work/time than others, but good planning generally proves to be the key to preparing good meals.

Soon I will be making my great Crock Pot of Black Eyed Peas with Salt Pork/Onions. One of my winter favorites that last for days. Yumm.

With the cold weather, staying/getting warm is the order of the day. Hot beverages, soups, and stews warm us up and give us the fuel to help maintain it. A large mug of hot Tomato soup can really hit the spot. That Crock Pot Beef Stew that you started early in the morning, gets high praise when dinner time rolls around.

Preparation is the key and it begins at the grocery store when you pre plan ahead and buy flower, or a special cut/s of meat or those family favorite vegetables. Good meals can be quick and easy if one just thinks ahead. Instead of cold sandwiches, you could be serving Sloppy Joes or a great Pasta dish.

Also. one pan/pot meals can cut down on the clean up work as well. Many sites have great simple recipes that while being easy, will get you high praise from your hungry crowd. Some of the best can be found on trusted sites like Campbells, Kraft, Hormel, and others.

Notice: Super Bowl Sunday is almost here !

Plan your feast and do your grocery shopping before the last minute. Sunday may find that store supplies of what you want are already sold out. Tortilla Chips, Beer, meats, and other supplies could be hard to come by unless you think ahead and buy your supplies as soon as you can get them. Don't be the guy that got shut out ! Cool

Smokey (Or any one else),
Do you have cornbread recipe for which the bread actually holds together? The problem we have with cornbread/muffins is that it disintegrates whenever you try to spread most anything onto it.

Jiffy and Martha White are very good cornbread mixes. In fact I used the Jiffy brand to make corn-cornbread today. Jiffy requires 1/3 cup of milk and an egg to be added/stirred into the dry mix.I drain and add a small can of whole kernel yellow corn to make it special. Also instead of muffins I pour the whole 2 cups of batter into a greased baking dish and bake at 400* for 20 minutes. It's what they call a Johnny Cake. Slice like pie and serve with butter.

Mine came out golden brown and really hit the ole spot. Yumm ! BigGrin

Zero2Cool (4h) : Keep in mind the quick little fast guys that the Rams, Falcons used. They might see Trevor in that role.
Zero2Cool (4h) : More than likely, this is a last ditch effort to find a spot for Trevor.
Cheesey (13h) : I agree gbguy. He must have a relative in a high position on the Packers!
gbguy20 (19h) : except ty was actually good (at both positions) where Trevor has never shown a reason to be on the 53. how he has been here for so long escapes me
wpr (20h) : It's the Montgomery experiment all over again.
gbguy20 (22h) : Trevor Davis practicing as a RB during OTAs. what the hell
Zero2Cool (22-May) : Folks usually say the series don't start until road team wins
TheKanataThrilla (22-May) : There was a stat that indicated that home crowd was most important in basketball of the big 4 sports. Not sure why.
Zero2Cool (22-May) : Raptors are simply better team top/down, and two of their main guys are hobbled.
Zero2Cool (22-May) : And didn't learn from past mistakes and lost Game 4.
Zero2Cool (22-May) : Bucks should have lost Game 1, got lucky. Dominated Game 2. Screwed up in Game 3.
Zero2Cool (22-May) : I don't think they are gonna make it to the Finals. No effort, no heart last night.
buckeyepackfan (22-May) : Don't panic Cheesey, series will go 7 games. NBA needs that to happen.
Cheesey (22-May) : Bucks stunk it up tonight. If they keep this up, they will be WATCHING the championship on TV.
TheKanataThrilla (22-May) : Congrats Blues. Stanley Cup bound.
gbguy20 (22-May) : i c u cheesey
Cheesey (21-May) : Yeah....would have been good “JU JU”! LOL!
Zero2Cool (21-May) : Should have taken JuJu Smith-Schuster instead of Josh Jones
Zero2Cool (21-May) : " So I think it's a good opportunity for those guys to get the bulk of the reps. I think everyone in here is comfortable what Davante is about."
Zero2Cool (21-May) : LaFleur says Davante Adams is present, but he did not practice: "Just precautionary, and ... we do have some young receivers. So I think it's a good opportunity for those guys to get the bulk of the r
Nonstopdrivel (21-May) : They won another Eastern Conference Championship in '74.
Nonstopdrivel (21-May) : They won it all in 1971.
gbguy20 (21-May) : im assuming not
gbguy20 (21-May) : have the bucks ever won it all?
Cheesey (21-May) : Yup.hes best taking it to the hoop.
gbguy20 (20-May) : the nba 10 years ago vs now
Zero2Cool (20-May) : and I do NOT want Giannis taking 3's unless we are up by double digits. Period.
Zero2Cool (20-May) : and it was bumbled up and a turnover. TAKE THE DAMN SHOT
Zero2Cool (20-May) : So many times it looked like clear lane to the hoop and instead of the layup, they did an awkward pass
Zero2Cool (20-May) : That was another thing that boggled my mind.
Cheesey (20-May) : True. So many missed shots. These guys are pros, yet can’t seem to make a free throw???
Zero2Cool (20-May) : 12 points wasn't the issue, it was his 8 turnovers. And the stupid ass passing in the paint. Just take the damn lay up.
Cheesey (20-May) : Held the Greek freak to 12 points. That sure didn’t help us.
Zero2Cool (20-May) : Always feel home team gonna win game three. But once OT hit, I felt it was ours.
Cheesey (20-May) : They had plenty of chances. They just plain blew it.
Zero2Cool (20-May) : Bucks didn't win, crap!
Zero2Cool (19-May) : It'll be canceled before the month is up 😜
gbguy20 (19-May) : dangit
Zero2Cool (19-May) : You have to pick a package. I think they have an NBA package. I just bought the $25 that gave me ESPN TNT and TBS to ensure NBA games.
gbguy20 (18-May) : from*
gbguy20 (18-May) : do you have to pick ftom "packages" with sling or can you legit individually pick the channels you want?
Zero2Cool (18-May) : and ya can cancel anytime ...
Zero2Cool (18-May) : Sling TV is $25 a month.
nerdmann (18-May) : My SkyStreamer is running great.
Nonstopdrivel (18-May) : Even at fifty bucks, YouTube TV is reasonable. I projected the Super Bowl on a screen at least 20-feet high, and the clarity was impeccable.
gbguy20 (18-May) : 50 is nuts for that. i like your sling idea
Zero2Cool (18-May) : YouTube TV is $50 a month
Zero2Cool (18-May) : I paid for one month of SlingTV for NBA
Nonstopdrivel (18-May) : Or spend ten bucks a month for YouTube TV and watch it on your flatscreen.
Nonstopdrivel (18-May) : Download the NBA app and watch the games for free on your phone.
