Jermaine Whitehead's career with the Packers . . . is done.

Whitehead . . . was released two days after he was ejected for slapping New England Patriots center David Andrews in the head during the second quarter of Green Bay's 31-17 loss.

It wasn't the sole reason for his release, but it may have sealed his fate. The Packers decided to use cornerback Tramon Williams, not Whitehead, at safety to replace the traded Ha Ha Clinton-Dix against the Patriots. Fellow safety Josh Jones also saw his role increase significantly after the trade.

"The Whitehead penalty was clearly a classic reaction to the first guy," McCarthy said Monday. "And they catch the second guy. Whatever your feeling is, the severity of the penalty is a whole other topic. But . . . you can't have that. You can't react to those types of things. Yeah, we need to be better there."

Whoa, there really is a new sheriff in town. Can you imagine Ted Thompson making a swift, decisive move like this? Maybe Whitehead was already on the way out, but it's nice to see the concept of "last straw" appearing in Green Bay.

Now let's also see if there is someone decisive enough to stand up to the diva QB, like Ted did. Wink

I'd like to hear why they fired him, as Mike McCarthy should be on his last straw for refusing to be more creative when the offense is struggling... use some creative routes to get the rookies more involved!

I mean run some basically man beating routes to get MVS or St. Brown on a 5 yard catch and run crossing pattern if nothing else!

Once again some of you need to realize Mark Murphy is the only person who can fire Mike McCarthy.
Guttekunst controls player personal only!

Maybe he will trade/,release enough players to piss Mike off and Mike will leave.
😁😁😁😁

I doubt Mike McCarthy is even aware that the players have been cut or traded....he’s to busy staring down at his play sheet.LOL

No I know that, it's just at this point I don't care...

If you're going to fire Whitehead simple for reacting in self defense of himself and not being a star then management should be fired for the same bullshit such as Mike McCarthy be fired for not be willing to make adjustments and Gute fired for picking Cobb over Nelson.

Unless there is more than what we currently know (which I assume there is)

I remember Ted cutting a rb when he and Lacey broke curfew.

Can't remember his name.

I do remember Lacey being benched for that.

RB Alonzo Harris... I believe that it was rumored they had multiple problems where they thought it was escalating and having a bad influence on Lacy.

Also I still think the RB coach that year (a former NFL FB) had a thing for oversized RB with power even if they couldn't do other things which might of given Harris an edge as someone else outplayed him in training camp IMO. Though neither would end up doing much.

Harris did nothing at all. He got signed to the Ravens' practice squad and was out of the league by the end of the year.

Nonstopdrivel (9h) : Over the last three games, Brees has completed 83 percent of his passes for 974 yards, 11 touchdowns and no interceptions. Those numbers are ridiculous.
Zero2Cool (10h) : @RobDemovsky Look for the Packers to add a D-lineman in the next 48 hours. McCarthy said he and Brian Gutekunst discussed that today.
Zero2Cool (10h) : McCarthy says may have to add a defensive lineman with Daniels out several weeks.
Zero2Cool (10h) : @TomSilverstein McCarthy said Graham will try to work with different splints and said every injury is different so it's hard to say whether it will work out.
Zero2Cool (12h) : Raiders set to sign WR Keon Hatcher off Packers' practice squad, source says.
Zero2Cool (17h) : Probably should, but it won't. It'll be same shit we've seen since 2012. Defenses aren't surprised.

Zero2Cool (17h) : Panthers lose, Packers win, next week and we're 6th seed. Stupid.

Nonstopdrivel (19-Nov) : You guys should get your happy asses in the chat room.
Nonstopdrivel (19-Nov) : That was supposed to be "the checkdown." Heh.
hardrocker950 (19-Nov) : All things I don't see from the Pack
hardrocker950 (19-Nov) : Yup, taking 5 yard completions when they are covering downfield... trusting their rb to make plays...
KRK (19-Nov) : more creativity from the Bears in one drive than the Packers in an entire game.
hardrocker950 (19-Nov) : Was just thinking that NSD
Nonstopdrivel (19-Nov) : Sure does make me jealous to watch Trubisky take TNT checkdown for a first-down gain.
KRK (19-Nov) : Viking guards getting stuffed
Zero2Cool (19-Nov) : @ESPNStatsInfo Philadelphia's 41-point loss to New Orleans is the largest by a defending Super Bowl champion.
Nonstopdrivel (18-Nov) : Saints have only punted 20 times ALL SEASON.
gbguy20 (18-Nov) : alex broke fibula and tibia, was taken to a hospital for immediate surgery
hardrocker950 (18-Nov) : The Alex Smith injury looks BAD
Nonstopdrivel (18-Nov) : 33 years to the day that Joe Theismann went down with a right leg injury.
gbguy20 (18-Nov) : nvm apparently cam is fine. drama queen
gbguy20 (18-Nov) : alex Smith and cam Newton both went down today. both teams ahead of us in the playoff race
Zero2Cool (18-Nov) : ✔ @JasonLaCanfora Browns release statement saying Condoleezza Rice has not been considered as a head coaching candidate
Nonstopdrivel (18-Nov) : Or should I say, she's played ball with a few football players?
