It would be nice to keep a running tally of the players the Packers bring in for tryouts over the course of the season.
Here is the latest batch:

Not a new item, but a little background on the player.

I hope this is not an indication the Adams is hurt worse than we think

I think this is more an indication that any of the practice squad players can sign with the other teams at any time (and WR Keon Hatcher has in the past).

Maybe also a sign that our receivers behind Adams aren’t really showing a whole lot.

As evidenced by the wr stat line this weekend.

Exactly. Aaron Jones led the team with 7 receptions. After that was Jimmy Graham with 3.

But honestly I kinda expected that at some point... as LaFleur's offensive scheme is heavily involved getting the ball to the RB anyway possible (so lots of runs and lots of passes to them, and this is why I wouldn't be surprised to see them draft a RB higher than normal at some point).
But the Packers really have been failing to do this... as they have attempted to be a hybrid with what Rodgers likes (which is not throwing shorter passes)... but without Adams there... they might of had to do less of what Rodgers likes and more of the actual traditional system.
In this traditional system, the RB one of the most important players as they're trying to get the ball in their hands either through running or getting one on ones in the passing games. And without Adams, of course they go to Jones next... as none of the other WRs have yet been able to step it up enough (yet) and this gets the team more in sync with the normal system.
Though I'm a bit surprise we haven't tried (or if we have tried, it hasn't been successful), to set up MVS more for some deep bombs... but that could be partly due to talented defenses not giving enough time for deep shots or being able to cover better.
But coming into this game (first 4 games), the RB/FBs had 23 catches for 172 yards,
The Cowboys game they had 12 catches for 102 yards. (and got Jones 4 touchdowns though via running)
But seems like they went back to more of the traditional scheme this week... or got it working this week.

This isn't anything new.
Teams do it all year long.
Rash of injuries, players being signed by other teams, always be ready.

I would love to see Pennel back. He could help shore up the porous run defense.
