has anybody fantasized about Matthews being the game-changing player that we all hoped Hawk would be?

Hawk still can be a game changing player. I haven't given up on him.

Last year, it looked to me that our LBs were:
1) poorly coached,
2) worn down because our DL sucked and the LBs had to do all the work.

Beef up the DL and now we have completely different coaching, you will see both Nick Barnett and AJ Hawk shine. I think they're both solid players. You just didn't see it last year because of those 2 things.

As for Matthews, yes, I'm hoping he's game-changing as well. But what I'm really hoping for is for Raji to plug the middle. If Raji can plug the middle, you'll see a whole new Packers team. Then our LBs can do their jobs instead of doing cleanup work like they were doing last year.

I guess he wasn't allowed #47 because it isn't a linebacker number? If that's the case, neither is #74 for Kampman.

thats incorrect. Defensive linemen can wear any number from 50 to 79 and from 90 to 99.
Linebackers are restricted to wearing 50-59 and 90-99.

Must I correct even the Tiger? :)

* Numbers 1 to 19 are worn by quarterbacks, kickers, and punters.
* Since 2004,[3] Wide receivers are also allowed to wear numbers between 10 and 19 if they so choose, even if there's an 80-89 number available.
* Numbers 20 to 49 are worn by running backs, tight ends (40-49, when an 80-89 number is unavailable), cornerbacks and safeties.
* Numbers 50 to 59 are worn by linebackers and offensive linemen.
* Numbers 60 to 79 are worn by members of both the offensive line (the tackles, guards and centers) and defensive line (the defensive ends, defensive tackles or nose guard).
* Numbers 80 to 89 are worn by wide receivers and tight ends.
* Numbers 90 to 99 are worn by linebackers and defensive linemen. In effect since 1984.

Slick,

If you don't mind me jumping in here, You and Tiger are basically in agreement. The Question then becomes what position do you think Kampman will play THIS year.

I think Aaron will play the position his coaches have told us. OLB and DE. Where's the question about that? It's been said repeatedly that no team runs a pure 3 - 4 defense and teams use a blend. When we are in 3 - 4, he'll be OLB. When we are 4 - 3, he'll be DE.

Guess they have to make a number chart for tweeners?

On subject, I didn't get to watch this video but reading it was good enough. I am glad Matthews and Raji are already seeming to hit it off as good friends. That will be good for on the field as well as off the field since Raji clearly points out Green Bay is a big difference compared to what he likes, city life.
Both of these guys are ready to come in and make immediate impacts. Its good to hear young guys talk about wanting to work hard. All thumbs point up with these two and I hope they see a ton of playing time this upcoming season.

Mucky Tundra (3-Apr) : Diggs, Collins, Dell and Schultz is gonna be tough to cover
Zero2Cool (3-Apr) : Stefon Diggs' trade will not be processed as a post-June 1 designation, so that is just over $31 million in dead cap this year.
Zero2Cool (3-Apr) : Bills trading WR Stefon Diggs to the Texans in exchange for a 2025 2nd-round pick. (via @rapsheet)
beast (3-Apr) : Using Patterson as RB and RB/WR tweener... so I think they also signed Patterson as a 3rd down RB, not just a kick returner as articles are
beast (3-Apr) : I think PFT missed the real Steelers/Patterson connection, Steelers new OC Arthur Smith has been Patterson's head coach the last 3 years
wpr (2-Apr) : It has Martha. I was stunned when I was in HS to learn Iowa was still playing half court BB in the 70's.
