i know it's just ONE game but i'm proud of aaron & this very young team we have guys!!

Very true that it was only one game, BUT, it was an important game in my mind. Aaron playing the way He did, should give Him and the team the confidence they need throughout the season. I know the team already believed in Him, but I think Him coming out and playing the way He did in week 1, rids the team of any lingering doubts they may have had. It also puts the fans solidly in His camp, so hopefully the pressure is off in many ways.

This team now KNOWS that Brett or no Brett, they can be every bit as good as last year. I think that counts for something.

That was one of the most sloppiest games I can remember seeing in a long while.

Kudos to the Packers offensive line. I honestly didn't think they'd hold up as well as they did.

Non-kudos to the Vikings receivers. They KILLED T-Jack. Outside of that INT he threw, he had a decent game. How many drops does his WRs/TEs have? I bet more than how many times he missed completely. It's sad, there's already a 'Bench T-Jack' thread on PP.O. And it's unwarranted, IMHO.

AP did alright. Chester as well. Although it seemed like they didn't touch the rock very much the 2nd half.

The playcalling was no better than average, at best. And that definitely doesn't help T-Jack, either. The guy has zero chance to get into a rhythm. The 2 minute drill for the Vikings needs a little pick-me-up as well.

Really, I'm surprised it wasn't a Green Bay blow out. It should've been.

Atari Bigby. He's a great game clinching closer as well.

He seems to always come up with game clinching INT's. Defense was the definition of bend but don't break tonight. Definitely need to work on third down though.

Rodgers really showed up in a big way. Man, I'm impressed. The Vikings D is no joke, and he hung in there and delivered.

Big ups to the offensive line in controlling Jared Allen.

Defense needs to step up. Should be taking care of business on 3rd downs, not letting the first down happen. I was disappointed to see that.

Ryan Grant looks like the real deal. I was a bit worried that he may be flash in the pan, and his numbers aren't great, but his huge run showed me, that he's going to be special.

Good game to the Vikes. Tavaris Jackson looks to be a lot better than last year. He's impressive.

I've had 4-5 beers tonight, I'm slightly buzzed, I've got class early in the morning...but it's all worth it because football is back and the Green Bay Packers are back to work. Go Pack!

The Oline imploded, Rodgers stood tall.

A TD got called back, Rodgers stood tall.

The run game lacked bigtime early on, Rodgers stood tall.

Goal line play, 1st guy isnt there, 2nd guy isnt there, continues his reads, 3rd guy isnt there, FORCE IT! NO! Rodgers stood tall. 4th read is there if he makes a perfect throw. Zings it. Touchdown.

Aaron Rodgers, this post-game beer is for you.

Kudos to you for posting here after a loss. I think the Viking offense does not have an identity. Everybody knows about AP, but unfortunately for the Vikes, he can't win games by himself. To put it simply: Running teams score field goals, and passing teams score touchdowns.

I don't remember a whole lot of drops by the Viking receivers, but maybe that's because the other team's drops look like great plays by my team's defenders. (He heard footsteps!) The problem is that when a team is so heavily reliant on the running game, it's hard for the passing game to get into a rhythm. This is the dilemma that Childress may be facing all season long.

Tarvaris Jackson looked pretty mediocre throwing the ball, but very good at sensing pressure and escaping from it. That's an important skill for a QB, so I'm not writing him off yet. I do think he needs better receivers, though. I actually like their #3 guy, Sidney Rice, better than the other two.

Rodgers and the receivers were on point. Pass protection was excellent -- the fact that Jared Allen's name never came up MEANS something. The penalties, however, were a huge setback. We left points on the board because of them. Special teams overall was good considering Blackmon's excellent return -- but the blocked field goal was disappointing.

It was a closer game than it SHOULD have been. The only playcalling issue I had was after the Packers got the onside kick. With Rodgers going 18-22 I could have use ONE pass to try to get the first down and end it there. Instead we came out in a heavy set and ran it three times. I know there's ball-protection -- but it seemed like we were unwilling to win it there. Outside of that, most of my frustration was towards the penalties.

But those are correctable mistakes. The nucleus for success was there: tough defense, good quarterback play, and big plays from special teams. If the run game comes on (and I think it will because we won't be playing the Vikings every week) and we limit the mistakes, the rest will fall into place. One game at a time. Here we come Detroit!
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

Vikings looked very impressive at times. I am overall very happy with the Packers performance. Penalties need to be a huge focus as the team moves onto Detroit. Thankfully, next week should be a little bit of a break after this game and Grant should be ready after getting back into getting tackled this week. Judging by how the Lions got torched on the ground, I hope we run it down their throats.

dfosterf (25-Mar) : Still waiting on the kickoff rule changes. Did hear yesterday that the touchback proposal will now be the 30 yard line, not the 35
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Probably speed of game issues with your proposal
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Hopefully the refs don't get in the habit of throwing flags on this
beast (25-Mar) : I think when it comes to Challenges should get two strikes, so unlimited challenges as long as they keep winning them, but 2 wrong then done
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Still subject to the fines etc
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Yes, I should have been more specific. Also, they are now saying it would be a 15 yard penalty. That makes more sense .
