Hovan was a fake. Never liked him much.. Ran his mouth and never backed it up. I loved his pride, but not his production.

As far as Randle, Carter and Allen.. Exactly the type of players I love on my team.

You reserve and exercise your right to hate any player on my team, that's cool. Just like I reserve and exercise my right to hate everything about yours.

'Friendships' will always be strained. I'm not worried about the hostility. You forget, the majority of my closest friends I grew up with were Pack fans. There were fights, gloating, poking and prodding.. And mostly fights. I'm not worried about that.

The only thing that really bugs me is the blind goggle-wearing comments. At least use a little bit of objectivity.

So if I say Chris Carter pushed off to get open about 60% of the time you would respond how?

So? WRs have been pushing off for years. Carter just mastered it. He even taught Moss how to push off. Pushing off doesn't bother me.

Pushing off doesn't bother me much, though I think defensive players should be able to push off if offensive players can get by with it. What DOES bother me is that it's still entirely legal for an offensive player, particularly a wide receiver or running back, to grab a defensive player's facemask.

...which is a nice way to say that the personal shit is done between you two, right? (You pushed pretty hard in this one Jeremy/Formo)

"dfosterf" wrote:

Yeah, I'm aware I pushed pretty hard. Part of it is due to the constant badgering I get from Dakota on Jared Allen's illegal move. Under normal circumstances, that wouldn't bother me to the point of pushing the way I did.

But team that up with my frustration of being laid off among other things, I got offensive.

I debated posting what I did.. but did so assuming Dakota wouldn't take it personal (as he shouldn't.. It wasn't intended to be personal).

"Illegal hands to the face". What is that rule then?

I agree, otherwise. The reason they don't allow defenders to touch the WR is for ratings (higher scores, higher viewers, etc). Which is dumb.. but it's something we as fans have to deal with.

Illegal hands to the face - a player pushes or hits a player on offense in the head or helmet. Referee signal: One open fist in a pushing motion to the referee's chin.

It only covers actions against offensive players.

Hmm.. I swore I've seen offensive linemen called on this multiple times. Maybe that's a different penalty.

Formo my friend, I usually tell young Vikings fans to remember that even though we are members on this forum, that as Vikings fans we should consider ourselves guests in "their house".

However, I believe that you have taken enough grief on this subject.

Packer fans are always very adept at poking out their chests at the Green Bay Packers long and storied history.

In this case they seem to have conveniently forgotten some the "low lights" in their long (and sometimes dubious) history.

What Packers player was ejected for pushing Walter Payton over the bench in 1985? Mark Lee.

What Packers player once wore a hand towel with Chicago Bears offensive players numbers on it, claiming that it was a hit-list?
Charles Martin.
After a Jim McMahon interception, Charles Martin decided to slam the QB to the ground and end the QBs 1986 season. Martin was ejected from the game and was suspended two games by the NFL.

What Packers player was ejected from a game because he got into a battle with Chicago Cardinal DT Al Barbartsky, that threatened to turn the game into a free-for-all?
Clarke Hinkle.

What Packers player was ejected for an extremely late hit on Chicago Bears Matt Suey in 1985?
Ken Stills.

What former Packers player appeared on the front cover of "Sports Illustrated" with the question, 'Too vicious for the NFL?'
Chuck Cecil, he was fined many times

Or perhaps in more recent history, although not technically "dirty", who are some of the NFL players leading the league in penalties?
Charles Woodson
Whoopi Harris
even
Atari Bigby
Flag these guys

While I do not condone "dirty" football, and players as such should be fined/suspended......it is pro football for Gods sake.
Or perhaps some might prefer the Packers to start playing touch football.

Note: Not once did I bring up the Whoopi Harris shot on Adrian Peterson.

Look we could grind this ax all day long..

For every Cory Fuller spit in the face, we could be reminded of a Chuck Cecil head shot.. For every Mark Chumura we can point to a fall boat cruise...

Thing is.. this is a game where the advantage is paper thin on a match up level most Sunday's... players will use whatever advantage they can get away with.. legal or illegal.

It is up to the refs and the league to manage the rules of the game...

No team is filled with angels.. where the line should be drawn is when the actions increase the risk for injury by their actions.. care less the color of the jersey.

It was a bad decision by Favre.. care less if he donned the green or the purple.
