I agree. Those rants to the media tend to be desperation moves by coaches of teams who are not doing well.

One thing about McCarthy, that drives me nuts, is that he never shows the fire I want to see from the HC. Has he ever gotten in the face of a player that messed up? We know there have been many chances. I can't recall a time. His press conferences are all watered down, politically correct nonsense. Once i would like him to show a little emotion. Seeing him come out with a "Playoffs, did you say playoffs" or "They are who we thought they were" type remark that actually shows he might give a shit.

It is not his style to berate a player in the media....

Why don't people understand that?

Question....Last few SB participants coaches how many of them have you seen attack their players in the media?

I do not know of any times it has happened..

Example would have been Sunday, when they pulled Bush because of his second false start. Would have like to see Mike McCarthy go up to him and give him a quick piece of his mind. Doesn't have to berate, but say something.

As for a presser quote, something that doesn't seem like a prepared watered down Crash Davis PC comment. Or at a minimum, alteast say the PC crap with a little emotion.

It really is interesting to read Mike McCathy's press conferences, because for the most part, they are unintelligible. His sentences truly say nothing -- they must be painful just to transcribe. Personally, I don't even see a reason for these little events, since we learn less than nothing from them anyway.

I personally think there are FAR too many of these press conferences. Let the man coach. He must waste 2 hours during each of these days preparing/giving press conferences. And they're useless.

That isnt his style..How hard is it really to understand he will not do it..

Only reason people want to see it is because then they know for a fact he is getting mad at his players....

Voyeurism

Holmgren did it, and he embarrassed himself if you asked me..

Watch the miked up video, and you will see his emotions coming out...Or maybe even that isn't good enough..

Watching the vid makes it worse. Rodgers gets sacked and he says to himself "Unbelievable" the next time, mumbles to himself again and waves the punt team out.

I was raised with coaches that got in my face when I messed up. Some more than others, but they all did it. It is what I like to see from a coach.

You're right Packfan, we should go out and get Denny Green or Herm Edwards. That'd put us on top.

Sorry, but I call this a BS shallow reason for not liking a coach.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

I just think that given our severely limited vantage point, it's difficult to gauge the impact of the coaching style in question. I'm sure that showing more emotion or getting in players' faces has been shown to be effective. That said, we're not talking about high school players here -- these are pros. Best way to shake guys up is to demonstrate how accountability works. The more I think about it, the Rouse cut is a positive.

And switching gears here, but a close friend of mine who worships the Colts (and thus knows a fair amount about them) had only good things to say about Giordano.

Whether it is deserved or not, there are some rumblings about Mike McCarthy effectiveness as a coach due to the performance of the team during the first two games.

The fans and media have expectations about GB's performance and the last two games have fallen short of those.

I still like Mike McCarthy as a coach and was impressed with what I saw during the miked up video but I want to see this team dramatically improve against the Rams.
