vs Vikings
Rodgers 37 pass attempts for 384 yards and 2 scores and 1INT.

Grant 11 carries for 51 yards(4.6 Avg)

vs Rams
Rodgers 23 pass attempts for 269 2 scores.

Grant 26 carries for 99 yards(3.8 Avg)

vs Bengals
Rodgers 39 pass attempts for 261 and 1 score.

Grant 14 carries for 46 yards and 1 TD(3.2 Avg)

vs Bears
Rodgers 28 Pass attempts for 184 and 1 TD

Grant 16 for 61 yards and 1 TD(3.8 Avg)

Note, in both wins Rodgers was under 30 pass attempts. In both losses, Rodgers was over 35.

When will we strike a balance? Grant hasn't looked all that great, hell he hasn't looked good at all. But he's been nearly invisible in all but 1 of our games.

I think we may underestimate how much a prolific Grant can help Aaron.

Last night the packers didn't have the ball long enough to establish the run.

Give the ball to RB 20 times or more and it's a different story.

One issue we have with our OL is this subject. Teams KNOW we will be PASS heavy so they KNOW to rush the passer often. Just like a 3rd and long is obvious passing down, playing against the Packers is obvious time to go all out rushing the passer cuz you know theres a good chance it's a pass. And if it's a run, Grant will struggle breaking the first tackle anyhow.

I'm switching to the DeShawn Wynn bandwagon. I'd like to see him net 20 carries a game.

I'd like to have Jackson back in a Grant+BJack combo. But even if he's back after the break, he probably wont be in good shape.

Deshawn Wynn...lol

I ran the numbers on this last year and in reality what we are asking is not often done in the NFL.

Out of all the top passing teams last year starting with the Saints the top ten averaged about fifteen places lower in the run game. I remember that including Arizona, Colts, and whoever else was in the top ten passing the ball. We were in that group and actually had one of the best run games of all the top ten passing teams. The only exception to this last season was New England who finished in the top ten in both catagories. The Saints look they may do that this year. But it's rare.

I guess it comes down to not being able to have it both ways. If you have the big bodied run blocking bulldozers you don't get the guys with the footwork for pass blocking and visa versa.

Excellent point. But we had a power OL some years ago and they could pass protect and run block. Or maybe the run block made it easier to pass protect?

Wynn does drop more balls than he should. But, with Jackson back, you use Jackson as the 3rd down back like we do with Grant. He doesn't get many balls thrown his way. Although this past game he did have several nice screen plays.

I'd like to see a change, for (this is bad) changes sake. We're 4 games deep, .500 which is not bad at all, but gosh we lack urgency until the last quarter of the game. Why can't we do this for four quarters?

We need to get Jackson in there and see what he can do. I'm sorry, but Wynn hasn't shown anything at all to me since preseason in his rookie year - dropped 2 easy ones in the flat last night, too. Bah.

Jackson is the hardest runner on this team at this point - Grant's either satisfied, injured or scared, but in any case he's not getting it done.

Jackson needs carries as soon as he's able to handle them. And then McCarthy needs to show some resolve and stick with the run - if only to keep teams from going apeshit with the pass rush.

Wynn is hands down the hardest runner on the team and second most nimble on his feet to Jackson.

dfosterf (19-Apr) : Put him at right guard. That is where he will be coached. That is where he will compete. He is not even allowed to look at the LT playbook.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Kidding aside, I hope the best for him.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Went to a Titans board. One comment there. Not very long. I quote: "LOL" They don't sound overly upset about our aquisition.
