I am often asked if I worry about Daryn when he is playing football. My honest answer was no. I have been spoiled during Daryns football career, both college and professional, because he has stayed extremely healthy by football standards. He had never missed, or been removed from, a game due to injury until this week.

While watching the Packers-Vikings game on Monday, I saw Daryn hit the ground and grab his knee. My heart sank as he left the field assisted by trainers. When I saw that they didnt take him to the locker room I held out hope that it wasnt very serious.

It was serious enough that he didnt return to the game, but he stayed on the sideline with the team. My phone started ringing immediately with concerned family and friends, but there was nothing I could tell them. I wouldnt know until after the game when I could talk to Daryn. Since he was still on the sideline there wasnt much anyone could tell me, so I decided not to call the security number given to the families in case of serious injury. Daryn and I didnt know exactly how serious the injury was until after he had an MRI.

The next day as I stepped out into Green Bay I realized that it wasnt just close friends and family who were concerned. Everywhere I went people wanted to hear the news and told me that Daryn was in their thoughts and prayers. The fans were truly interested in Daryns well being.

I have often heard people say that the players are like family to them. When you hear so much about someone, and so often, it can truly feel as though you know him. The players are reported on daily and attend many events where people can ask questions and get to know them better. This gives the community a very real connection to the team.

The residents of Green Bay and Packers fans everywhere care about this team and its players. I felt this all week as people asked about Daryn and how he was doing. I am thankful that it was only a sprain, and not something more serious, but it made me realize how lucky we are, to be a part of such a caring community. Thank you for all of your support this week.

To answer your questions:
"Do you help Daryn pick out his tattoos?"
I dont usually help Daryn pick them out. Often times he knows what he is looking for and I have just asked that he tell me first, so Im not shocked when he comes home with a new tattoo.

"Do you live in Green Bay year-round?"
Daryn and I take trips in the offseason, but we are only gone for a few weeks. I am a member of the Service League of Green Bay, and that keeps me here throughout the year. I have enjoyed the opportunities to help the community that the service league has given me, so I dont mind bundling up for the winter months.

Megan Colledge is the wife of Green Bay Packers left guard Daryn Colledge. Her column will appear online throughout the season.

I may get on Colledge from time to time for his play, but the more and more I listen to the guy speak the more impressed with him as a person and player.

His wife either shared that gift with Daryn or vice versa.. nice read.

Get well and return to action soon number 73.

I agree. His play at LT hasn't been great, but he has been doing pretty good as a guard. And he sounds like a great person when you watch the Colledge Experience and in interviews etc.

It's always encouraging to read stuff like this about the fans. Especially after hearing alot of negative things about the fanbase with this whole Favre stuff.

He was really stuck in a no win situation last week. Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson gave him nothing but reps at guard all offseason. He moves to tackle and has to face one of if not the best pass rusher in the league.

Get better big guy.

dfosterf (19-Apr) : Put him at right guard. That is where he will be coached. That is where he will compete. He is not even allowed to look at the LT playbook.
