The pass rush isn't helping either player out, but both of them have regressed tremendously this season. Tramon's technique seems off and he's getting beat in situations that he thrived in last season. Simply put, he's having an off year in comparisons to '10.

Someone recently pointed out that Tramon has been playing much more off-man this year instead of press-man, which is what he is suited to. Part of the reason is no doubt Tramon's shoulder, but it was suggested that part of the other reason may be the lack of pass-rush.
Like Rock pointed out, the lack of pass-rush is a big issue. In press-man, if the WR has time to recover, then the CB is basically trailing the entire time and can't keep plays in front of him. With our lack of pass-rush, WRs are going to have time to recover after being pressed.
While playing off-man, at least Tramon is able to have a better shot to keep plays in front of him. That way, if a big completion is made, at least he has a shot to get the receiver down. Add to that, that Tramon isn't really suited to play off-man, and you have problem in pass-D.
Also, I wonder if Tramon's shoulder has been more of an issue than has been let on. That, in fact, may be another reason he's been playing as much off-man as he has been. No doubt he is having an off-year, but I think it's reasonable to suggest there is a cause beyond his control affecting his play.
