Daniel Snyder is still an idiot when it comes to building a football team.

First there was John Hadl. Then there was Herschel Walker. And now there is Robert Griffin III.

Washington:
#2 pick this year.

St. Louis.
#6 pick this year.
Washington's #2 pick this year (#39 overall).
Washington's #1 next year.
Washington's #1 in 2014.

I wouldn't trade that many picks for Aaron fucking Rodgers if I was on any other team in the league. That's just insane. The Redskins will end up paying for this for the next 10 years.

So, if the Colts take Andrew Luck who ends up being say 3/4 of Peyton Manning good for them and what if Robert Griffith III turns out to be another Ryan Leaf, lol.

Now that's funny, I don't care what you say.

The Rams just got set up for some SB runs in the near future. Whether they can take advantage of it depends on their management.

Yeah. Some Vikings fans are mad that they beat Washington at the end of the year now that this deal has been released. lol

Good grief. All that just to move up 4 spots in the draft? Redskins would have been better staying put and pursuing someone like Flynn in FA. These are the kind of trades that can set teams back for a good 5+ seasons if they don't pan out. Look out for the Rams the next few seasons. They are going to do some reloading.

Daniel Snyder is the kind of poker player I would love to be sitting across from at the casino. He thinks his loose, aggressive style intimidates the other players at the table, and his wild bets are certainly crowd pleasers when they pay off, but more often than not he goes home busted at the end of the day, while the more sensible players are counting the cash in their fatter wallets.

I dunno.

You don't get to be a gazillionaire by being a loon at everything.

I don't think Snyder is motivated by winning football games, whatever his PR department is told to say. He's motivated by being a mega-gazillionaire with power to make big decisions and be an "Important public figure". Free agency money is petty cash to him. The Redskins are the way he makes it rain.

My guess is that if he's at the poker table, he's there to win, period. And I'd never bet against a gazillionaire when they're out to win a card game.

Not unless they were falling down drunk and their handlers were too stupid to get them away from silly bets.

Good point. And makes you wonder.. He's only goal is to sign big names to get jersey sales (huge market in that, BTW).

After reading the poker player comment, I was gonna say something about Daniel Snyder is after all a millionaire so he had to have done something right, lol.

I'll take being a shitty ass poker player in favor of being a millionaire any day.

What he does do is a huge disservice to the fans of the Redskins, who are pretty much like us - only add arrogance and remove reality. This trade is an all in move to sign a very talented yet very young player. It is definitely an all in move, which has a very high probability of backfiring.

Part of me says it's stupid to give up that much, but then again, the Redskins don't draft too well do they? I think they usually go about building their team the "Yankees" way ... pluck players from other teams rather than farm their own talent.

Maybe their draft picks don't work because they spend so much money trying to attract free agents. Sort of a pain in the ass to give it your all for an organization who doesn't reward those within first.

Daniel Snyder's business career is littered with some pretty notable failures too. Six Flags comes immediately to mind. Bear in mind that in our modern executive compensation environment, execs can pull in huge bonuses even as they are driving their businesses into bankruptcy. In fact, I would say that Snyder's career is pretty consistent with the behavior of a loose-aggressive poker player. These are the guys who make the bets that stick in everyone's minds for years, and when they win, the results are spectacular. But their success tends to be erratic and short-lived. Ask any regular poker player, and they will tell you that there is money to be made from rich folks. Snyder might do all right at a table game, where he could intimidate people with his deep bankroll, but I doubt he would make it all the way through a tournament playing against the big boys. Whereas there are unknown players who make it to the final table almost every year.

Obviously, in some sense, Daniel Snyder has done something right in life: he is filthy rich after all. On the other hand, that success in life has not translated to success on the football field, and that was my point.

Much like the late Steve Jobs, Daniel Snyder comes off as a silky smooth salesperson who has been ultra aggressive throughout his career.

Yes, some of his business ventures failed.. yet some of his were hits, but the consistent aspect early on and yet today is he finds someone to bankroll his en devours.

Look at his deals to expand and finance "FedEx" Field.. he is marketing his franchise very very well.

One thing good sales people, I have bumped into during the course of life, generally don't do well, manage the follow through of what they sell.. and they certainly don't manage people and resources well. Generally they bounce from place to place until they are paired with a strong support staff behind them.

That seems to be his MO, good sales person that lack the follow through, worse yet on the football side of the ledger, hasn't had a strong support staff in place to implement a plan and stick with it.

Always looking for the splash to sell. Well.. in terms of dollars, at least this splash won't cost him a future.

Rams have the 2nd overall pick in 2014 thanks to the Redskins 3 - 13 season. Rams also have the 13th overall selection.

IF Rams take Clowney at 2 and a QB at 13... it might set them up for quite a few years IF those picks pan out. Never was a fan of Sam Bradford.
