Wasn't there a time when the anthem was just sung normally instead of it turning into a 2 minute look at my voice ordeal

The National Anthem has been butchered many times by various performers over the years but Kat whatever her name was really butchered it in Dallas last night.
I was so pissed off by the time she finished I could have thrown a brick through my screen.
I have never been a fan of fans booing performances but the fans in Dallas were right to boo this performer.
The National Anthem is meant to be sung with respect, not turned into "salsa" music or "soul" music or country music or whatever spin a performer feels like putting on it.
Sorry I just needed to vent!!

I didn't see it Yoop......i didn't get to see the game.
I agree though......too many times i have heard people try to put their own spin on it, and i don't like it at all. Just SING the song the way it's supposed to be sung! It's not an audition for "American Idol", it's OUR song!!!

Yes....it seems now it's an audition for "American Idol" instead of honoring our country.

I'd like to see some of those who booed that young lady get up on that stage in front of millions an try to sing. It's amazing how rude some people can be.

Oh....i agree!!! I wouldn't have booed her.
She caused alot of the problem by trying to jazz it up too much. Thats a hard song to sing when you sing it "normal". Trying to punch it up is just ASKING for trouble.

True, but to be professional, someone else must feel your services have monetary value.

Well, that kind of echo's what I just said or no? I highly doubt anyone is going to simply come up to you and say hey, here's five grand because you sing.
I don't know the situation on how a singer is selected, I just know the girl didn't deserve to be booed. I think that's disgraceful to our anthem and displaces a negative tone on our country's lack of appreciation of someone trying their best. She tried and I'm sure she gave it her best shot. Maybe it wasn't good, maybe it was... bottom line she tried and as fellow American's I think we should have supported her better. To boo in that situation --in my opinioni-- is hypocritical of what we tell our children.
