A roundup of what's happening on the Green Bay Packers beat. Considerable time has been spent this week writing about and discussing quarterback Aaron Rodgers' record in close games and comeback situations in large part because he failed to lead a fourth-quarter comeback drive in last Sunday's 34-30 loss at Cincinnati. Much of the discussion centered around an ESPN Insider piece by Football Outsiders' Scott Kacsmar, who went so far as to say Rodgers' sub-par record in close games -- 5-24 in games when Rodgers had the ball in the fourth quarter and trailed by between one and eight points -- prevents him from being classified as one of the game's truly great quarterbacks.

I'm usually not a fan of Mike Vandermause (his article was linked to in the article referenced in this thread) but he hit this one on the head. Rodgers has had his share of games let go by the defense in the 4th quarter and if even half those games were won his numbers would look better. Of course other QBs are in the same situation so his ranking may not change much but his overall numbers would be better

The bottom line is he still wins almost 2/3 of his games. I'll take a QB who who goes 11-5 every year and doesn't have any 4th quarter comebacks over one who goe 8-8 and has 7 4th quarter comebacks.

So you are comparing Aaron Rodgers to Tim Tebow? Yeah that's a good way to let others know the extent of your football knowledge.

Yeah, it could have went the other way and I thought of that as well. My apologies if I misunderstood.

uffda udfa (14m) : Not harsh. Another failure and playoff embarrassment.
uffda udfa (15m) : Aaron cried a little when asked about Jordy playing today.
GoPack1984 (28m) : Dismal season? I think that's too harsh.
uffda udfa (29m) : Packers should have never been 4-6. Dismal season.
GoPack1984 (32m) : ...with the current defense.
GoPack1984 (33m) : Good season. Great rebound from 4-6. Would have loved to have seen them go to the Super Bowl and win, but I don't know if that was realistic
uffda udfa (38m) : •thanks Shakespeare.

uffda udfa (55m) : Nobody has ever lost a championship game by as big of a margin as us. Title Town revolt.
uffda udfa (56m) : Did I hear wrong or was that the biggest beatdown in championship game history? Nice.
Nonstopdrivel (58m) : ndedly fill in all the holes on the roster.
Nonstopdrivel (1h) : I do get the same sort of complacent vibe from the Packers front office that cost Bill Polian his job. You can't rely on the QB to single-ha
The_Green_Ninja (1h) : Thomas Brady has been given tools his whole career. It's up to the Packers to start doing the same.
The_Green_Ninja (1h) : As much as I loved brett, Aaron is right. We need more tools and HE is the QB that deserves the tools
shield4life (1h) : & management
shield4life (1h) : Blame the coaching
The_Green_Ninja (1h) : This is near the same time Brett started saying the same stuff.
uffda udfa (1h) : That is exactly what Aaron is saying. We don't do what needs to be done to win. Same song over and over.
uffda udfa (1h) : Aaron is a troll and a hater and doesn't understand the game. Who is he to say such things?
Zero2Cool (1h) : Probably reading into it wrong, but I think he's saying to front office. Do. More!
Zero2Cool (1h) : Rodgers says "We just gotta make sure we're going all-in every year to win....we can take a big step this off-season"
uffda udfa (2h) : MM: We ran into a buzzsaw today. LOL. U came with no tools at all.
hardrocker950 (2h) : They showed up and played, we crawled in and died...
mojaveson (2h) : Kudos to the Falcons. I hope they win the Super Bowl.
uffda udfa (3h) : All credit to ATL. Not a word about needing to get better.
Zero2Cool (3h) : Ran out of talent, something we didn't have a plethora of on defense (my opinion)
uffda udfa (3h) : MM: Ran out of gas but proud of his guys.
