It's a weird season - part but not all of which is because the so many injuries. As bad as it has been for the Packers, I would suggest a lot of other teams are as bad or worse off. In addition to the Bears, the Colts, the Texans, the Rams, and maybe others have had it pretty bad.

Losing Cutler is bad for the bears but could be worse. They lose Cutler's upside, but they also lose the "Bad Cutler" downside that costs them a good 3-5 games a year. McCown's not starting-quality but he's a veteran that can win games. If Forte plays well and the defense holds up they'll still win their games. We have deeper LB injuries and losing 3 of our top 4 receiving options in 2 weeks hurts a lot more than anything the Bears are dealing with right now.

there were a bunch

Quote:

Sunday was brutal.

No weekend of football this season saw a longer list of big-name players lost to injury.

Franchise quarterbacks, star pass-catchers and key defenders were shelved from east to west. Every NFL injury has roster impact, but Sunday's carnage leaves a handful of teams in a dark corner.

So which injury hurts the most? Here's my two cents:

1. Jay Cutler (groin)/Lance Briggs (shoulder), Chicago Bears: Cutler will miss "at least" four weeks with a torn groin muscle and Briggs will miss up to six with a small fracture in his shoulder. Just like that, Chicago is stripped of its starting passer and most experienced linebacker (on a defense that can't afford another injury). The Bears entered the season with enough talent to win the NFC North, but all bets are off. Backup passer Josh McCown showed well on Sunday, but we remain suspicious. Chicago's in a heap of trouble.

2. Reggie Wayne (torn ACL), Indianapolis Colts: NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Wayne tore his ACL along with his meniscus. The Colts are a legitimate Super Bowl team after wiping out the Broncos, Seahawks and 49ers, but there's no way to replace the chemistry Wayne had with Andrew Luck. T.Y. Hilton and Darrius Heyward-Bey shift into the top two spots -- and we like what little we've seen from LaVon Brazill -- but Wayne led the team in catches and yards and freed up Luck's other targets. This loss will haunt Indy.

3. Sam Bradford (torn ACL), St. Louis Rams: Bradford has a torn ACL and won't see the field again this season. The Rams aren't a serious playoff threat with or without him, but it's an injury that raises major questions inside the organization. Due $14 million next season, Bradford has support within team circles, but we wouldn't be surprised to see St. Louis warm up to a young passer in the draft. We already know Kellen Clemens won't do, will he, Bernie?

4. Brian Cushing (broken fibula, torn LCL), Houston Texans: Cushing told NFL Media's Albert Breer that he has a broken fibula and torn LCL that will require surgery. Losing the All-Pro linebacker for the second straight season might be curtains for Houston. This defense was never the same after Cushing tore up his knee last year, and it won't be easy sailing for the AFC's most disappointing team.

5. Leon Hall (Achilles' tendon), Cincinnati Bengals: This one flew under the radar, but losing Hall strips coordinator Mike Zimmer of the team's most versatile cornerback. Hall's injury means a bigger role for Adam Jones across from Terence Newman, but the Bengals have enough talent on defense to remain a factor.

6. Jermichael Finley (neck), Green Bay Packers: Finley has full movement in his extremities, one day after he was taken off the field on a stretcher against the Cleveland Browns. He won't require surgery, but it reportedly could be "weeks" before the tight end returns. Good thing Aaron Rodgers can generate points with basically anyone catching the ball. Finley's injury was scary, but it appears he'll be back in the fold before the season ends.

7. Doug Martin (shoulder), Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Coach Greg Schiano wouldn't confirm that Martin will miss the remainder of the season with a torn labrum, but don't expect to see the runner anytime soon. His injury would rank higher -- near the top -- if the Bucs weren't a tire fire. Martin's downhill running style is a core element to Tampa's offense, but Mike James has been impressive in spot duty.

8. Nick Foles (head), Philadelphia Eagles: Chip Kelly told reporters Monday that Foles sustained a concussion in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys and has entered the league's protocol for head injuries. He was headed for the bench anyway and we fully expect Michael Vick to start if he's healthy enough. What an Eagles season worth if every quarterback on the roster doesn't make an appearance?

Of these injuries, Reggie Wayne going down could be the best thing to happen to Luck. Remember back when Favre first became the starter. He through twice as often to Sterling, than any other option and much of the time RB was the #2 highest. It wasn't until after Sterling went down that Brett started to spread the ball around.

Cheesey (1h) : Go get him Uncle Ted!!
Zero2Cool (1h) : Former Packers pass-rusher Datone Jones is back on the market.
Zero2Cool (3h) : Good news for #Packers secondary: rookie CB Kevin King and vet CB Davon House (quad) both practiced. King has cleared concussion protocol.
Zero2Cool (3h) : Vince Biegel back on practice field!!
Zero2Cool (10h) : Maybe this little shout has no value if people gonna use it instead of the forum.
Zero2Cool (10h) : He's not writing. He's shouting, and its making the shout kind of without point with the clutter.
buckeyepackfan (15h) : Just like last year at 4-6. The guy is just too funny!
buckeyepackfan (15h) : GOOD news Uffda is already all but writing The Packers off for 2017!
uffda udfa (19h) : Masturbation talk from Barfan? Nothing could make me COME back, quicker.
wpr (20h) : Maybe the shout box needs to take a timeout. People keep using it. ;)
Zero2Cool (21h) : Why do this is in shout? So frustrating. Post in forums. Thanks
Barfarn (21h) : Masterbation will relieve some of that nervous tension!
uffda udfa (22h) : Now, a guy they really liked and have groomed for 3 years is the guy. Tons of toys on O. Let's see how it runs with a great coach, now.
uffda udfa (22h) : The Flynn Patriots game has been used to say that he is. Seneca and Scott showed otherwise.
uffda udfa (22h) : Hundley is going to settle the debate once and for all in whether Mike McCarthy is a great coach, or not.
uffda udfa (22h) : Doesn't speak well to the talent acquired by the org, does it? Easy to say talent is great until Rodgers is gone and you have to see it wit
Porforis (23h) : Could Sam Bradford come into the Packers and post a winning record from here on out? Are there any non-starters in the NFL that could?
Zero2Cool (23h) : Teddy is replaceable. Aaron is not. Vikings have a really good defense. We do not. Understand??
Zero2Cool (23h) : You are wise enough to know the difference. Right?
uffda udfa (17-Oct) : Here's one for you, Z. Vikes lose Teddy B. and go out and aggressively get Bradford. Packers lose 12 and go out and get a UDFA.
uffda udfa (17-Oct) : :) Evans had a pre-draft visit with Packers.
Zero2Cool (17-Oct) : Put it in a topic. My lord why so difficult lol

uffda udfa (16-Oct) : @ProFootballDoc says Rodgers could return Week 14 at earliest, and surgery speeds up return timeline.
Zero2Cool (16-Oct) : McCarthy dropped a "bullshit" on packers.com stream. No delay apparently lol
