Right now we have a QB that knows the playbook and can't play in Rodgers. We don't need that in a backup with Flynn as well.

I was rather pleasantly surprised with Tolzien. He has a much stronger arm than I remember. For the most part he made some nice decisions with the ball. Sure he also made a couple poor ones but how much can you expect from somebody who was on the practice squad a week ago.

He zipped some nice passes, threw with some touch at times, and the sidearm to Kuhn showed some nice improve. He managed the offense very well, moving up and down the field more than a couple times.

If a couple PIs get called, who knows.

The world needs ditch diggers to Danny!!!

I, too, was super impressed with Tolzien. All things considered, he did a decent job. I would stick with him.

This game was a classic clusterfrick. Losing EDS and Barclay hurt, for sure. Oh well. All we need to do is steal 2 or 3 wins in our next 4 games. That would give us a shot at 10-6 or 11-5 with a healthy return of Rodgers and some others.

Maybe we split that. Maybe we surprise one of those teams and steal one, getting 3 wins in these next 4. Maybe, we win them all… wishful thinking, but possible.

If we can't beat Minny, we don't deserve the playoffs.

If I'm Mike, I shitcan Seneca last night, bring in Flynn as the backup. Ok, maybe take a look at Flynn first. If Flynn can't go it, call Graham Harrell.

I've heard Flynn's got tendinitis in the elbow. That's treatable with alternative modalities like acupuncture. I've got some special kung fu linimints and stuff that could help. I got scar tissue in my arm from baseball, and if I needle my arm first, it's a huge difference.

We have been nothing but tonic to the Giants when they are ailing. Now they are coming off of 3 straight wins… would love to shock them and take them down in their house. It is a dream, but I would love to see it happen. Tolzien or Flynn. Doesn't matter to me. Get somebody ready to manage the game and hand the ball off!!!!

On another note, why is Mike McCarthy asking our 3rd string QB to make these back shoulder throws to a WR running a post in the back of the end zone and expecting him to hit it? There are probably 7 QBs playing now that can make those throws. It is almost as if McCarthy refuses to change his game plan. Refuses to recognize he had his 3rd stringer in there, with little to no prep.

Isn't getting your entire team prepared for Sunday part of the job description? Yourself as HC included? Like, what's the plan should Wallace go down? Keep throwing?

wow.

I see the Giants as the most clear loss I've ever seen so that means we probably have a chance.
Tolzien will realize where he is and probably have a terrible game. He didn't have time to think against the Eagles. (or did he?) ;)
Eli will feast on the lack of pass rush and the inability of our secondary to cover. He'll have his best game of the season. Most QBs usually have their best game of the season/career against our defense.

I'd roll with Tolzien. He knows the playbook better than Flynn (right now) and now has a game under his belt with the starters. Tolzien played as well as we could have expected and if he can play that way, the Packers have a few chances these next couple of weeks, pending our defense does something different.

Alright, Matt Flynn is SIGNED.

Do you want Flynn taking starter reps or Tolzien?

Tolzien this week, let Flynn get comfortable, no sense going into this game with another "just signed player.

Flynn can be ready enough if Tolzien really struggles, Mike already named him starter, go with the rookie this week.

Flynn isn't just another signed player. He has YEARS of experience in the offense. I think he can preform better with a week of practice than Tolzien.

This is all new to Tolzien.
This will be a refresher for Flynn.

Let Flynn's arm get right.

Doesn't sound like he's gonna wear it down with practice reps at backup. lol

Good points, either way, I feel a lot more comfortable this week, if Mike does go with Flynn and he struggles, at least Tolzien has shown he can do the job.

Now The Packers need to get their O-line back together, haven't seen any news on EDS or Barclay.

I don't think they sign Matt Flynn if his arm isn't right. UNLESS they plan on having him teach Scott Tolzien, and then sign John Skelton and carry three QB's until Aaron Rodgers is back.

Flaw in that thinking is, why would you have Flynn teach instead of Rodgers?

I think I'd go with split reps briefly and whomever does the most with those reps, move forward with them.

One thing for sure, The Packers will go with 3 qb's on the roster the rest of the year. What happens to Wallace now? Do they ir him? or release him? they sure as heck can't keep all 4.

He's not intimidated by being on the field like Harrell was.

Aside from that his arm must not be too much worse than Harrell's.

Whatever gets said here, apparently it's been decided that Tolzien will start. I'm fine with that. I think he has a stronger arm and is more mobile. The greater experience in the system of Flynn doesn't mean much, as Tolzien has been with the Packers long enough now to be comfortable.

The Good Lord really smiled down on the Packers when Wallace's groin muscle went out. We now have hope against the Giants, strong hope against the Vikings, a chance against the Lions, and probably Rodgers back and normalcy/winning out after that.

So four training camps, four preseasons, two starts and four full NFL seasons under the system is less than no training camp, no preseason and 10 weeks in the system??

10 weeks > 4 full seasons

interesting
